natwilliams Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 So this girl I met a few weeks ago invited me to an art event/party thing this weekend. Turns out my parents are visiting me this weekend (I can't push them back to another weekend). The event is 8pm so I can't really put my parents to bed and go out. And it'd be weird to leave them alone. Or tell them I have a date. Plus it's not really a date. Should I just bring my parents to the event? Or skip the event and reschedule?
bubbaganoosh Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Honesty goes a long way. Tell your date that Mumsy and Dad came in for the weekend to visit and you would feel bad leaving them after they made the trip to see you. Just remember that girls come and go but you mum and dad will only be here for so long and once their gone, then you can't get it back. If she doesn't understand and gets mad then IMO, she isn't worth the time. 1
d0nnivain Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 It depends on the event. If it's open to the public maybe you can bring other people. Would you feel OK bringing your buddy & another date? If yes, then think about whether you want to take your parents. They are your guests. Your 1st obligation is to them.
amaysngrace Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Let her know they'll be in town and ask her if it'd be okay with her to bring them along. Then see what she says.
Assasda Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 It depends on how smooth and confident you are. I say, bring your parents along. Show them a good time. You can be a little self depricating, talking to your love interest about it, and it gives you things to talk about all night long
Author natwilliams Posted June 19, 2014 Author Posted June 19, 2014 Just and FYI, it worked out great. My parents are cool and it showed that I come from a solid loving family. Thanks! 2
