firmness Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 This has probably been posted here before, but since I am relatively new I will ask anyway: What do you think is the largest gap in age that would be sustainable in a relationship?
halfcrazed_i Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 It really depends on the person -- every person will have a different point of view about this topic. There are people who can sustain big gaps in terms of age. I personally like being with someone who's more or less in the same age range as me -- only because I like going through the same life experiences as him.
crederer Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 It depends on the age. The older it is the less the age gap matters. My grandparents were 8 years apart and they had the most solid relationship I've ever seen. However I feel that long term relations should be plus or minus 5 years as a general rule (there are exceptions to every rule)
iiiii Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Depends on the people. I think that as the age gap between potential partners increases, then (all other things being equal) it becomes progressively less likely the relationship will be a successful match between equals. However, I also think in real life, all other things are never equal. Everyone is different, and there is no magic cut off where the certain age gap determines that a relationship will or won't work. At the end of the day, age can present some practical problems in a relationship, but there are many, many other important qualities in both partners that also influence whether a relationship survives or fails.
