realfriends Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Is a great movie that has the same overall lesson that gets taught on this website. Its a great movie for dumpees to watch. It gives you an outside perspective of what everyone on here is trying to tell you about your ex. I dont want to ruin the movie for anyone so I will leave it at that. Lets just say I teared up a teeny bit for the first time in a while. I think it should be recommended with the movie that gets tossed around here a lot, "Swingers". I personally think Silver Lining is tons better but thats my personal opinion. Any other good movies I should watch? 1
somedude81 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 (edited) It was one of my ex's favorite movies. Plus, the last movie my ex and I saw together was Hunger Games 2: Catching Fire. When we were in the theater holding hands, she was already having thoughts of dumping me. Jennifer Lawrence can suck it. Edited May 23, 2014 by somedude81
learning_slowly Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 The Blind Side. It renews your faith in human kindness. 1
David87 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Intouchables This movie is awesome and motivational. ( NOT AWFUL )
amaysngrace Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Jennifer Lawrence can suck it. I wish Bradley Cooper would let me 1

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind A couple undergo a procedure to erase each other from their memories when their relationship turns sour, but it is only through the process of loss that they discover what they had to begin with. 4
Omei Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 I love the movie too but still its all fantasy what happens in the movie is very fairy tail and its not likely everyone else is gonna get the same happy ending anytime soon.
Author realfriends Posted May 24, 2014 Author Posted May 24, 2014 Intouchables This movie is awesome and motivational. ( NOT AWFUL ) Just watched the trailers and it looked great. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind That sounds like it would make me upset because thats kind of what everyone on this forum dreams about. Maybe one day ill watch it.
FredJones80 Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Watched this Silver Lining Playbook last night on the recommendation. Liked the "message" but thought the film was a little boring, sorry Anyone who wants a feel good film should watch... The Pursuit of Happyness

Author realfriends Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 Well, that's pretty much the only way a reconciliation can work. I understand but Im not trying to focus on reconciliation. Working on moving on. Like I said, it sounds lovely but probably something I should stay away from for right now.
esteem-jam Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Watched it. Seemed a bit gloomy. Somewhat disturbing how Bradley Cooper`s character is stuck in a loop about his ex-wife. Maybe I have to make a comparison and look at myself about that. Tiffany basically threw herself onto him, unrealistic but somewhat explainable by her approach that maybe sex solves everything. Although anyone that takes meds will tell you that they kill your libido. By the end of it I started to dislike Nicky, because Nicky this, Nicky that, wanted those scenes end faster. 1

I see what you are saying but what I pulled from all of that was... The minute he saw her he knew there was something there between the two but didn't want to believe it because he was holding on to hope. Its something that a lot of people do on here. And I'm not saying the movie was perfectly realistic, just in my opinion, it was a much better movie than swingers
Author realfriends Posted June 13, 2014 Author Posted June 13, 2014 Intouchables This movie is awesome and motivational. ( NOT AWFUL ) Havnt been on here in awhile but I watched this movie tonight (which was entirely in a different language) and have to say it was a good movie. Thank you for the recommendation.
Sugarkane Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 I like Silver Linings but it's a bit unrealistic that finding a new love, will magically fix someone's mental illness. And I was disappointed they down played Tiffany being a goth. I didn't understand why the ex wife went for some old guy? I saw Swingers years ago, but I can never remember it.
Sunberry Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 It was a lovely movie. It was one of the first movies I watched during the first few months of my breakup.

AnyaNova Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 I know they're not movies, per se, But I know that on my bad days, Eddie Izzard's comedy somehow pierces through everything with its relentless build and I find myself simultaneously laughing and crying (particularly the in the most painful first few days and weeks). I've found movies without much romance particularly helpful, or ones where it is about moving on (like that one about the woman whose husband died and had planned a bunch of messages and activities to help her move on). frankly a good dose of Terminator or Die Hard can be a nice relief from all the Hollywood "romance" crud. Or something like Nausicaa or Spirited Away. 1
