People send an initial message on online dating. If and when there's a reply, what is the average amount of time it took?

I'm asking because the ladies I've messaged take two or three days, even though they are "online now" in the days between. Does it usually take that long to send a reply?

Depends on the person, there's no right or wrong answer.

I used to wait to respond sometimes simply because I was more interested in a conversation I was having with someone that had already messaged me and wouldn't have given my full attention to a new conversation. Not a big deal.

In my experience not "usually" but still fairly often.

As a general rule:

If she replies within a few hours (or up to a day if she is rarely online) you're likely one of the more interesting prospects she currently has.

If she takes a couple days to respond, likely her mind is preoccupied by other guy(s) she is talking to and/or has arranged to meet, and you're a backup option

In the (admittedly rare) circumstance as a guy in which you find yourself talking to 3 or 4 girls, you'll most likely end up doing much the same thing. Especially if you aren't in to multi dating.

If they do reply later and don't acknowledge they've delayed three days, then that's a turn off to me.
