Hey everyone,

my name is John. I hope this is the right place to introduce myself. If not, feel free to move this post.

So I signed up because my wife and I are currently planning the sweet sixteen party for our son Luca and have some issues with that. I heard about this forum from a friend and hope to find some like-minded people.

Best,

John

I might have to mention as well that my wife and I live in Bath (UK). I just looked on my posting time and it said 4 am in the morning :D Well here it is quarter til 12 ... I guess I should consider this in writing questions since probably right now nobody is online :D

Hi John. I have a sixteen year old son but we don't do sweet sixteen parties for boys here in the USA.

For girls we rent a place and have tiny little food and a DJ and sometimes a meal. The kids get dressed up and dance.

It's like a big social. :)

Is he your only child?

By the way, John, not all Americans are cowboys :p

Hahaha :lmao:I'm sorry - my howdy was acutally not meant that way!

Oh really... no sweet sixteen for boys? that's a shame... but acutally, it would save me a lot of money :o but I guess that's how it is. My boy seems obsessed with his big birthday party, wants a band playing and all...

Will there be dancers?

I hope I'm not getting you wrong... the guests will hopefully be dancing, yes. But I did not want to hire any. I mean, he is still only 16 :lmao:

Not stripping dancers.

Professional dancers. :)

My kids have been to bar mitzvahs and some parents get them for their parties. The kids are 13 years old and the dancers are late teens, early twenties.

No different than the dancers for professional sports teams and the kids really loved having them there. Got pictures with them and everything.

Maybe your son would love for them to be there!

So I definitely what some small bands playing and maybe we could combine that...

Regarding the location I now found a company that provides event-tents (those guys) - have you ever heard of renting a tent for a private event? Is that even possible? I think the solutions look actually pretty nice, but do you think it will just be too much? I'm not sure...
