BBR84
Ladies, if a man has full size bed is that a turn-off? I'm moving into a cool space but square footage is limited. I'm purchasing a bed/mattress this next week and curious whether or not ladies would consider this too small to sleep over. Cheers. *I'm normal size...5'11" 200lbs
Els
What is a 'full size' bed? I usually see them described as Single, Double, Queen, King, etc....
Phoe
I would find it too small. I have a full for myself, but there's no way I could share it. Even my tiny cat takes up too much room on it at night sometimes. I'm a light sleeper and can't sleep if my boyfriend's touching me at all, so I need a lot of room. My boyfriend currently doesn't have an actual bed, it's a mattress from an RV placed on the floor. It's full size and not NEARLY big enough. I can never sleep on it. He blows up an air mattress for me when I sleep over.
Under The Radar
Get a bunk bed ...... they are the "new" king . Tom Hanks rocked that philosophy in the movie "Big". Don't forget your glow in the dark compass ring ...... chicks dig those.
Author BBR84
Phoe, it's clearly not a dealbreaker for you right? What I'm getting at with this question is, if you went over to a guy's house - he only has a full size mattress - are you (in your mind) like, "damn this is too small - this guy needs to grow up." or is it more like, "this guy only has a full size? bummer. it'll work for now, but if this gets serious, we're going to have to talk." somedude81
At least you don't have a twin. Whether or not a full is big enough for you +1 really depends on how big you and she are. If you're a big guy, a full may be too small.
lollipopspot
Full is no problem at all. I'm a little over 5'5 and a was with a guy over 6' - we're both slender to normal - and slept on a full size for years. I don't mind sleeping close though.

I've slept with cats and guys on a full (at the same time) with no problem. I don't sleep hot and can sleep pretty deeply even with movement.
Ninjainpajamas
I'm 6'1 205 and I'm top heavy with my shoulders being considerably broad, and I like to sleep on my stomach at times with my arm stretch under my pillow so I can take it a bit of room in a bed. I bought a very comfortable tempurpedic pillow top bed a few years back because it helped me sleep better after physical work, the thing was like magic and even though I didn't have the largest amount of room it was worth it...you would love sleeping in that bed, it's a dream. When people come over they hijacked my bed and watch tv from it or relax and end up taking an unintended mid-day nap. You melt right into it but it still cradles you, instead of just sinking all the way or being too stiff, perfect. Also fair size at being a Queen, but I'm a baby koala in bed, so I'll cling on like I'm embracing a tree branch eating my little koala leaves (aka nibbling ear lobes). Ok enough bedgasms... Very worth it, definitely more comfortable than an RV mattress on the floor or an air mattress, I cannot stand those air mattresses. I'd go with a bigger bed personally as long as you have enough room to walk around it, you're not probably going to be spending much time there, and if you are...well, you'll probably be in the bed itself and likely appreciating it. As far as what the ladies want? what? who cares...get a bed you want for yourself that you sleep in well, if she wants a bigger bed too bad, tell her she can buy you one..and what is this? men are being judged for their bed size now too? I mean penis, height wasn't enough already? ...seriously though, go with what you want, I'd say Queen, but I like big beds and I cannot lie.

That was the single best description of a bed I have ever heard, ninjainhispjs. I could imagine you draped over it eating eucalyptus, all warm and fuzzy. I agree, OP, buy the house and bed you want and any women who enjoys you will enjoy it. I have slept in a hammock for a week with my husband and he is over six three and 200 lbs. Women who care for you adapt.
veggirl
I think you should get a Queen size if at all feasible. A full size is too small to share regularly imo, esp if you are older than your early 20s. I wouldn't be turned off or refuse to sleep over if a guy had a full size BUT if we were ever to co-habitate, that full sized bed would be relegated to the guest room. Honestly how much time do you spend walking around your bedroom...the Queen size is worth it if it fits, you'll prob have the bed a lot longer than you'll live in this place. anyway, we have a King size and its heaven on earth. I have no idea how I'd share a full size after being spoiled by the king size.
acrosstheuniverse
Do you mean a 'double'? If so (google seems to say so), no that's absolutely fine. The whole trend for King and Queen sized beds isn't really over here in the UK too much yet, most people I know still have a double. Sure, I've had a Queen size for a few nights before but it was mostly extra wasted space. I guess it depends on three things: 1) Your sleeping styles 2) Your body sizes, and 3) How well you sleep! I know some people who can't sleep touching anyone, so they'd need a bigger bed to feel comfortable. And if they're 110lbs or 250lbs, that's going to make a big different too. My current boyfriend and I are both slim and sleep curled up together so it doesn't really matter what size be we're in, we spent a few nights sleeping on a SINGLE bed together recently and we both still got a great night's sleep although it wouldn't be ideal for the long run. Additionally we're both super heavy sleepers so each other's turning around doesn't matter but I've had relationships with men who were such light sleepers that just climbing in bed or entering the room would wake him up every night. As mentioned above, the right person will adapt. I certainly wouldn't get a bed too big for your apartment just in case some possible future date has an issue with it. If someone likes you enough then you'll make it work, bed size would hardly be a consideration.

I'm purchasing a bed/mattress this next week and curious whether or not ladies would consider this too small to sleep over. Cheers. *I'm normal size...5'11" 200lbs Ahh a twin bed would be too small or certainly bizarre for a man to choose it if he isn't living in a dorm room, but not a full bed. If your square footage is limited, so be it. I doubt many woman are going to judge you negatively because of having a full bed. I've never thought about this. Unless his bed is just a mattress on the floor, an air bed, twin bed, bunk bed or a futon, I don't care. I currently have a full bed. A queen is my preference, but my current apt came furnished so I put my queen in storage. When my bf comes over we share it just fine...well he has a tendency to end up diagonally with me hanging on by a thread, so if we lived together a King would be in order, but besides that, it's fine and I wouldn't see any cause for alarm or discontent because of it. Imported
Get a queen size wall bed. Do-It-Yourself Murphy Bed Mechanism Kit Vertical, not horizontal like the pics in link
Phoe
or is it more like, "this guy only has a full size? bummer. it'll work for now, but if this gets serious, we're going to have to talk." This. In the case of moving in and getting married, it would have to be upgraded to king. in the meantime, i make do with it, sleep on the floor, sleep on an air mattress, or sleep over not very often.
d0nnivain
Other than a twin or on the floor the size of the bed of the man I'm dating wasn't an issue. The size of my marital bed was a debate that we settled together.
serial muse
Other than a twin or on the floor the size of the bed of the man I'm dating wasn't an issue. The size of my marital bed was a debate that we settled together. Yeah, a twin would raise some issues, but otherwise it's not that important to me. My H had a full-sized bed (Els, that's a "double" to you ) when we started dating. He has a horror of "big" furniture. Eventually, not long after we moved in together, we purchased a new bed together and I lobbied for a queen. Took a while for him to get used to how "big" it is but he says it's hard to imagine going back to a full now. Anyway. Full-sized would never be a dealbreaker for me. What was more unpleasant was that his "full" was a futon mattress, and murder on my lower back (that's what prompted the bed purchase). Also I did feel that it was time for him to graduate to an actual bed, with a box spring and everything.

Actually we got a Queen bed not that long ago, cause big beds are the "new thing" the bed shops are pushing........I can't say I get it really, its just a load of wasted space! I used to cuddle up with my gf in her single bed! If a girl will walk cause of your bed size then - shes just not that into you!
compulsivedancer
It wouldn't be a problem. As long as I didn't have to share a twin or a couch. Making me sleep on an air mattress would be a big no, however. H and I have had a king for a few years and I love it! H was a bigger guy for a while there, and he takes up a lot of the bed. Also, I move around a lot in my sleep. And we have very different schedules, so if we slept too close we'd always be waking each other up. Sometimes I miss the physical closeness, but most of the time I'm happy not to have to have space to actually sleep.
Koopa
you can't go wrong with a california king, I know you said you have issues with the amount of room available but who needs to walk around when you can sleep facing any direction you want.
SJS
Would not be an issue. My husband and I slept in a double bed for years. Once we got married, then we moved up in size. lol
dichotomy
I dont think any gal would look at a full size bed and think poorly of you, but they might think "not a lot of room if I end up in there with him" AT 5-11 and 200 your not a huge guy but your fairly good sized (dont know how your weight is distributed). So it might also depend on the size of woman who might share it with you. I think sex would be okay - but comfortably sleeping over night, night after night, could be an issue. But then again - at that point you could buy a queen for your queen.
Els
My H had a full-sized bed (Els, that's a "double" to you ) Oh, okay, that's good to know. We're currently using a double/full, for the past 1+ year. I won't lie, it can be annoying, especially as we were using a queen in our previous house. I really wanted to change it and even asked the rental agency if we could replace it at our own cost. They declined. My SO felt that we shouldn't undertake the hassle and additional cost of finding somewhere to store the double in the meantime (we don't have space in our small apartment for that), so we've just been using the double. I'm okay with that since he is the one bearing the brunt of the whole problem anyway, I get enough space for myself. He playfully announces that he sleeps 'On the Edge'.
