Just some general questions about dating because I'm new to the whole thing

1) Do you pick up the girl? Or is it better to meet at location?

2) Who pays on first date? Subsequent dates?

3) What are appropriate/good topics of conversation?

4) Should you be friendly or flirty?

5) How do you flirt? (another topic altogether lol)

6) How do you gracefully extricate yourself if you don't wish to see her again? Ignore her?

7) When should you ask for second date?

Posted

1) For a first date, meet them somewhere if you've never met them before, just for safety reasons and that way you have a way out (or they do) if it's not going well. If you know them already, it's probably okay to pick them up.

2) Generally, the person who initiates the date pays

3) Any topics of conversation are good for a first date, such as your hobbies, what you do for fun, work, friends, family, just learn about each other. Ask her what kinda books/movies/tv shows she likes (AND REMEMBER WHAT SHE SAYS). However, stay away from controversial topics like religion, politics, and PAST RELATIONSHIPS!!!!!

4) You should be both friendly and flirty (provided you are interested)

5) How to flirt? Tell her she looks pretty, compliment her. Make eye contact and smile (but not in a creepy way..just for a few seconds), LAUGH with her and tell her you like her laugh and/or smile. Don't think about it too much, just relax.

6) This is a question that varies from person to person. If it's a first date and I'm not into the guy, I just don't talk to them again. If you don't feel like doing that, send a text saying "I had a nice time, however I don't think this will work out, it was nice meeting you"

7) What I think is best, is if you had a great time and you think the feeling is mutual, send a text after the date saying "I had a great time with you, hope to see you again" and then initiate a second date a few days later. Don't wait too long!

Side note: DON'T OVER-THINK IT!!! Dating is fun! Just go with the flow of conversation and don't act like you have a script. Just relax and have fun! :)

How old are you?

What type of relationship do you want?

Posted

It depends on who you are and who your date is.

Depends on your age/etc, but here's my answers based on the fact I am a 29 year old female in a major city...

1) I meet first dates at a location. I would never have a stranger pick me up

2) Usually go dutch on first date. Dates afterwards I usually suggest we switch who pays.

3) Hobbies/interests (music, outdoor activities, sports, etc)/usually a bit about your job or day to day lives, really just getting to know each other.

4) Both! Especially flirting if you feel a connection, but be aware of the other person's reactions.

5) My body language changes, I will touch your arm get closer, hard to put it into words LOL... I do not make sexual suggestions on a first date though. I also blush A LOT when I am attracted to someone.

6) If they text to ask for a future date, I will politely decline. I would never ignore someone. It's rude.

7) I am usually eager to set up a second date since my schedule gets busy, so if you text me later that night or the next day I'm usually receptive.

Meet there, pick her up on the third or fourth date.

2) Who pays on first date? Subsequent dates?

You do, unless you want a feminist.

3) What are appropriate/good topics of conversation?

  • What do you like to do that makes you feel the happiest
  • Can you describe how it makes you feel
  • Where do you like to go on vacation?
  • What do you do for a living?
  • What's your favorite part about it
  • Do you have any pets
  • What is something your pet would do to make you laugh
  • What is your favorite movie
  • What is your favorite type of dessert?

That's a good start. Focus on things that get her to describe things that make her feel happy.

4) Should you be friendly or flirty?

Flirty.

5) How do you flirt? (another topic altogether lol)

Smiles, eye contact, brush up against her lightly whenever you can, touch her hand briefly, give followup questions so she knows you were listening to her.

6) How do you gracefully extricate yourself if you don't wish to see her again? Ignore her?

First date, text her, second date and on calling is best. Just suck it up and do it. Be a man.

7) When should you ask for second date?

Doesn't matter just don't wait too long (a week is too long).

Thanks for all your answers! To answer your question, I am a 27 year old guy interested in casual dating. But ideally, I would want to be involved in a serious relationship in the near future.

Doesnt matter if you pick her up or not. Do what is convenient to her, just be like water and free flow with what the female may want. Some may want to feel safer, and drive themselves, others may want a ride

2) Who pays on first date? Subsequent dates?

You pay for the date, but, she SHOULD be prepared to pay for the date, at least, let her get the tip, because you are a catch as well. But you arnt cheap, and paying isnt a big deal to you

3) What are appropriate/good topics of conversation?

This is how the sequence should go *) Let her talk at length about ANY subject she wants to, never interupt her. Listen to her and ask questions about the topic, but let her talk to you about anything she loves. *) If you have to talk, Talk about siomething you are passionate about, hopefully, not anything to do with hate, but if youre really passionate about Basketball or Woodworking, talk about that

4) Should you be friendly or flirty?

I'd say, be friendly, act like she's an old friend that you havent seen in a loong time. This works for me a lot.

5) How do you flirt? (another topic altogether lol)

Flirt by asking questions. There are physical signs that she might send when she likes you as well. She may fix her hair, or touch herself on her neck. And there is one move that women do that they cant fake: They look from eyes to mouth, then eyes again, and/or their pupils literally dilate when they're looking at you. Look for these signs, then just go in for the kiss right after

6) How do you gracefully extricate yourself if you don't wish to see her again? Ignore her?

You tell her thanks for the night, then you leave

7) When should you ask for second date?

Tell her that you'd like to see her again. Let her talk. Plan something, then call her and let her know

Whatever is best for her. More than likely she will just meet you.

2) Who pays on first date? Subsequent dates?

I usually pay full on the first three dates unless there's a spot she can chip in like post dinner drinks/ice cream something else aside from the main reason for gathering..if there's a fourth date, I play it by ear.

3) What are appropriate/good topics of conversation?

Pop Culture

Childhood memories

Her passions

Asking each other "why" can a useful conversational tool. It gets you away from facts and more into emotions and feelings, which is what they like to talk about.

4) Should you be friendly or flirty?

Both

5) How do you flirt? (another topic altogether lol)

Tease Her about something she says when the moment presents itself. Maybe it's playfully over exaggerating something she said or playfully accusing her of being something.

6) How do you gracefully extricate yourself if you don't wish to see her again? Ignore her?

Tell her it was nice to meet and hope she has a good evening.

7) When should you ask for second date?

I would do it the next day. Let her know you enjoyed the date and would like to see her again. Based on your conversation from the first date, you might have a better idea of what to do for a second date. When you ask her, have a plan in place to present to her.
