How do you walk away from something that isn't working when you both still love each other?

My SO and I have been trying to make a difficult relationship work for four years. We've broken up three times, each one feeling worse than the last. But he lives on the other side of the country, and because he has a child, he will never able to leave.

I'm the selfish person who couldn't give up the life I have to move there. Even though my heart is breaking, and I want more than anything to call him, I can't make myself move. I can't.

We came to this decision together, but what I wouldn't f****** give to just be able to be who he needed and wanted.

Everyone deserves to be with someone who can give them what they need. Why couldn't I have been that for him? Why can't he be that for me?? Why do I need more?

I want to hide. There's so much grief coming out of this. I feel like we made a mistake that maybe we didn't try hard enough. That we could have found a solution in the end, if only we'd waited a few more years.

How do I make it stop hurting?

Sometimes love just isn't enough.

Stop trying to make the decision with your heart & make it with your head.

Talk with the little guy in your head that told you not to move...he told you for a reason..look for that reason.

I think you have to look at it objectively, what will you gain if you move, what will you lose if you move.

Listen to Mcnulty, what is your reason for not moving?

Personally if I loved someone I would move, others wouldn't, I guess its a personal choice but if you choose to stay put then you have to accept the loss.

I'm sure army wives (& husbands) don't wish to move around like they do but for their love they do.. ok they're more than likely married but you get my point..
