LoveFloats Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Hi everyone, I’m in need of some dating advice! I haven’t really dated in a while, and have a first date with a guy tonight. He seems amazing (on paper), and though our messaging (We met online). I’m 31 and he’s 39, and he also has a daughter. Him being a single father doesn’t bother me at all, but I haven’t dated a single parent before. He seems just my type, and I’m hoping that I don’t blow it by saying/doing something stupid. Any first date dos and donts??
d0nnivain Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Do try to relax. Wear comfortable clothes but pick a touchable fabric. Go easy on the perfume. Ask open ended Qs & be prepared to share something about yourself but don't overshare. Telling somebody your favorite food or the last good movie you saw is great; using your date as a free therapist is a problem. Avoid talking about EXs. Be positive. Nobody likes a debbie-downer, overly negative person who hates everything. Limit your alcohol intake. Be prepared to pay for the whole check (just in case). At least offer to split the bill or leave the tip. Smile! Have fun!
slizl Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Here's what I do and it works like a charm. 1) I always have a drink or two before meeting (Just enough to take the edge off). 2) Greet them with a big smile and hug it out. 3) Have a list of 5-10 open ended questions ready to fire off if the date convo gets stale. 4) Be engaging and enthusiastic
