Confusedbloke93 Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Hey. I'm a 20 year old male and I've been dating the same girl for 2 years now, and I'm unsure as to whether I should continue the relationship or not. I really do love her, but I feel like she's holding back my development professionally and as a person. She has been pressuring me to get married for the last year, and though she stopped when I asked her to, she gets angry/jealous if we get invited to a wedding (recently one of my friends got married, and my sister invited us to her wedding). She is very supportive and generous, especially since I've been having trouble finding work and she's helped me out financially, but I feel like some kind of man slut sometimes because she insists on paying for everything even when I have the money (I am on student allowance; it's not much but I can buy a little bit), then gets really angry if I don't buy her presents whenever I have a little money. Finally, she won't let me move from Tasmania (the island at the bottom of Australia, where unemployment is at 9% and youth unemployment more than double that) to Sydney, which will give me a better chance at a job and a chance at entering a better university, because her strict traditional Indian parents won't let her move out until she is married (which is also partly why she so desperately wants to get married), and she doesn't think a long distance relationship will work out. I do really love her, and I don't want to break up, but I think it might be the only way to make my life less horrible and start improving my situation. I've been agonising over this for 2 weeks, and I need some help
Assasda Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Does she beat you up and take your lunch money too?? Pretty soon youre going to have to grow some balls and do what you want
Leigh 87 Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I am from Tasmania, Hobart.. Leaving there is the best thing I ever did. People who are born and bred there and never venture overseas and never move states, end up boring, close minded and lame by my standards.
Tressugar Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Hmmm...yeah...dump her. You're still young enough to find someone else who's your speed.
