Urban Rubble01 Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 I'm in a weird situation. My ex and I are actually spending Valentine's Day together. Some of you know the story, together for about 3.5 years, we're "on a break" for various reasons. A band we both like is playing that night so I'm going to go up and stay at her place for the night. You know, I considered going back to my teenage tradition of going skating on V-day, but I'm weak. I'm still confused about what's going on so I thought I'd go. Personally, I'm not wild about valentines day, but when you have someone it's kind of nice to spend the day together. Yeah yeah, the cynics say "You shouldn't need a special day", and theres some truth in that, but still, it can be kind of nice. My ex never expected much like alot of girls do, so that was nice, no pressure. We usually just go eat and lay around all day. Anyway, no real point to this rambling message. Wish me luck for the 14th though, I'm trying to just "play it cool" and leave all the relationship talk at home.

If you're REALLY not able to have a good time, spend 10 minutes pondering how you would ruin the joy of those you don't like. Would it be a simple phone call that stated "HEY!!! I'M F*CKING YOUR HUSBAND" Or something less involved, like leaving herpes treatment phamphlets under their windshield. Sometimes, bad thoughts cheer us up.

shamen Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 Valentine's Day is a silly manufactured holiday, I agree. I much prefer the kind of bf who is good to me year round. Somehow it seems more special if I receive flowers on a random day than on V-Day just because they are expected to buy them for me on 2/14. Second that notion for any present (and god do I hate getting chocolate). No thanks to any of this made up day. I'm more happy to be single this V-Day than to be with my ex.
Isabella82 Posted February 8, 2005 Posted February 8, 2005 I was also kind of sad about Valentines Day. but I am taking it a lot better then Christmas and Thanksgiving. Probably because more time has past. My ex last year got a hotel for us as a surprise, and in the hotel there were chocolate covered strawberries, and a rose on the bed. We watched movies all night, and ordered dinner in. He gave me a card that said he was the luckiest guy in the world and that he was looking forward to spending many more Valentines Days with me....didn't know he would break up with me 3 months later. The year before that we went to a really expensive dinner and exchanged gifts. This year I will be in school and hopefully not think about it too much. My ex did a lot of sweet things for me, he decieved me very well. The truth is I don't need someone to do all these nice things for me, but then turn around and lie to me all the time. I just want to someone to be honest with me, they don't need to spoil me with gifts and dinner all the time, he would also randomly give me flowers year round, usually when I was at work or on my car etc.... So this Valentines Day I am going to hold my head up high and realize that even though it hurts so much, I in the long run am better off. And even though I know most guys don't put much thought into holidays and anniversaries as my ex, I have to keep telling myself that if someone really loves you they will put in the effort. I don't need a b/f who decieves me, and tries to pretend like he is someone he is not. I rather be by myself and not waste the time on someone that doesn't care enough about me to be truthfull.

I WILL SOMEHOW FIND THE STRENGTH AND NOT THINK ABOUT HIM... I WONT. EVEN IF I DO I WONT CONTACT HIM..I'LL DIE BEFORE I CALL HIM. yup valentine day is for ameteurs..professionals do it everyday

Last year he bought me some dopy book. Plus after he left almost 4 months ago I found the cards that I gave him last year still unopened!! Plus I'd rather get flowers any other day for no reason not because it's Valentines Day!! Just my two cents!

I knew it was somewhere close... but it had actually slipped my mind... because I've been recently trying to recover from her last phonecall to my mother stating that she misses me, she thinks about me... but doesn't know if she loves me... and that she needs to worry about herself first than anyone else..... about which I'm still perplexed because if that were the case then she'd leave us alone....... but no.......... she's still confused.......... As for all you ladies here worrying about how sad it will be to be alone on Monday night.......... I know there aren't any words that could cure such an anxiety.... so what I will say is......... "Chooo... choooo....choose me!" Sorry, I had too. Anyway..... definitely go out and spoil yourselves. Buy those shoes you've been waiting to go on sale...... spend money!!!!!!!! Spend it.. spend it... spend it. It's just too bad there's no way of taking you all out for a meal and a walk/cup of coffee........ it's a damn shame.
