Two dates and now I'm leaving the country for a few weeks

I've just started "seeing" a new guy. I use quotes because we've only been on two dates and texted pretty often. No kissing yet, we've had good conversation, and he is still eager to spend time with me and get together again. He has even offered to cook dinner for me and take me hiking, etc. I feel like we have a good connection.

The problem is I am going on a trip to France for two weeks, leaving on Sunday, and have very little time to get together before I go. He wants to fit in a third date before I leave, which I hope we can arrange. I'm not interested in having sex with him before I go, then not seeing him for two weeks, because I do like him a lot and see him as a potential boyfriend. I don't want to spend my trip worrying about him and a two week break is long enough that he could easily just view me as a one night stand and move on. At least if he moves on and we didn't have sex, I won't feel so bad about it.

I'm wondering if anyone has been in a situation like this on either side. Did things fizzle while one of you was on vacation? Would it be weird at such an early stage to try and keep in touch while out of the country (like Skype or email)? I know he has been active on online dating for awhile so I guess I shouldn't be surprised if he moves on or gets some hookups going while I'm gone. I just don't know how to approach the situation or what expectations I should have. Thanks!

I think you are right for not having sex before you leave. Well it could go either way when you are gone. I mean the romantic thing would be to swap letters/emails during your trip if he's amenable. Letter writing is a lost art and very romantic.

If he really likes you, he'll keep in communication while you're away, and you being gone will only make him miss you.
