To include Ba'al / Hades There is a partial truth to your post. Did you know the Bible actually acknowledges there are other gods? Psalm 82 says the Most High takes his seat among the "gods" in a sort of heavenly council. But when you read Psalm 82 you find these "gods" are actually fallen angels and the Most High sentences them to "die like men" because, instead of guiding mankind and bringing truth and justice, they have brought wickedness and even caused mankind to worship them as "gods". This explains why there are so many gods and religions from ancient times until today. Baal, for example, is a fallen angel.
