Family members constantly niggle at are relationship

now I love my boyfriend and my family. but I'm getting increasingly frustrated with some of my family.

 

Me and my Boyfriend are shy'ish people and not big characters. but half my family is! there not loud but they have got big characters and like to get noticed and have there say.

 

Now i know my boyfriend is not a person they would of chose for me or they think fit into there "idea" of a family.

 

but he is who I have chosen and love dearly. but some of this is are fault as we're quite privet people and don't show allot of affection when around each others Family's.

I mean my mum the other day said it's the first time she has heard me say "I love you" to my BF and thats in 4 years. Though in privet or even out about with strangers we're all over each other and we say "I love you" all the time and to us are relationship is everything we want it to be.

 

think half the problem is we feel are movements are being judge. i know when my BF is about there watching and judging him and it drives me crazy. i don't think my family relies there doing it but they just like to have a there two penny's worth. I have pulled them up on it too many times to remember.

like this weekend We had my Nan round for easter and my boyfriend works a 48 hour week and had 2, 12 hour shifts over the weekend. but my Nan turned round to me and said "he's a miserable sod, don't see much of him and only got a grunt of a hello this morning before he skittled off" I just feel I'm forever defending us and are relationship to some of my family and I'm getting really fed up with there digs.

Now i don't tell my BF what gets said but i know he's not too keen on spending time with individuals of my family, understandably.

 

we'll I'm sure to stir the gossip cauldron between them soon as I'm hoping to get engage and settle down with my boyfriend soon. The only thing that saddens me is, if they carry on, we're only be seeing them once in a blue moon. which is hard as we are a close family but if they can't accept us as we are then there lose out on us in the end
