Grumpybutfun Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I have wrote before of our friend in the city who has been fighting cancer for five years or so, well, this morning she passed in her sleep. She has been sick and in pain and she was waiting for that sweet release, as she put it. We are very sad because she was positive and a light in the world, but at the same time we didn't want to see her suffer one more day because she was such a dear person. It made me think about some things we all take for granted....like no more hearing her voice, no more deep intellectual conversations on the universe, no more hikes around ponds viewing the turtles, no more Love and kindness from someone who was so special to us both, no more grandmother to her grand-babies, no one to help her son become a good man or her daughter to accept herself as she is, no more smiles that light up the room, no more giggling fests between her and my lovely wife, no more summer plans or vacations together to Hawaii. Life is fleeting and the time we have is precious. It is with a sad heart I write this, not sure what I am asking for or wanting but knowing that I'm not alone in my grief for one more senseless cancer death. Bereaved, Grumps 1

Fugu Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 A solid post, grumps, and I'm sorry for your loss. We take for granted the very important roles that good friends fill in our lives, and some of them become like family. 2
Sugarkane Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Sorry for your loss Grumpy. It sounds like you were very lucky to have this friendship. Life seems so unfair sometimes. 1
carhill Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Please accept my condolences. One thing the passing of many friends has taught me is to be appreciative of the time I spend with them and to not fail to tell them I love them. One never knows. The memories, some of which you shared here today, which you and their other loved ones carry forward, serve to keep the best part of who they were with you each and every day. It's a wonderful gift. Best wishes! 3
ja123 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 What a beautiful tribute in words to your friend, Grumps. I'm very moved. You see ... she's still touching people's lives and will continue as long as you share your memories. Thank you. May she rest in peace, and may God bless you all. 1
Tayla Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 So sorry to hear of this friends surrender to cancer. Your loss is indeed a reminder. You are thoughtful to share in her life being touched by so many. It deserves acknowledging. May you find comfort and strength. Peace to you and her loved ones. 1
writergal Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Sorry for your loss Grumpy. I lost my best friend to lung cancer when she was 26, my father to bone marrow cancer when he was 51, and my uncle to brain cancer when he was 60. My thoughts are with you and your family, and your friends' family too. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal. 2
Eternal Sunshine Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Sorry to hear about your loss. She was indeed very lucky to have a friend like you. 1
