ThursdayChild Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Hi everyone Can I get your opinions please? My question is about my brother's wife who I don't know well. I've never asked her for the 2 of us to hang out, I do not give her birthday gifts or send her cards but she does it for me. She will buy me a birthday gift and card, send me holiday/mother's day cards etc. Do you think she wants something from me, or is this her trying to be nice? Thank you so much everyone.
eye of the storm Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 This is your brothers wife. She is your sister in law. It sounds like she is trying to be nice and develop a relationship with you. Even if it is just a superficial one. When a person marries into a family they become part of the family. That means she is now part of your family. Giving birthday gifts/cards is her way of showing you are part of her family.
Shepp Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Probably in her family they said cards on birthdays so that's what she was raised to do and continues to do - simple as that. 1
AnneT1985 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I think it's lovely. And I think you could reciprocate once in a while- even though she clearly gives without expecting. I'm sure many people would be grateful to have such a thoughtful sister in law 1
