Curtains open or closed after dusk when platonic guests over for visit?

When you have platonic guests over to visit for the evening, do you keep the curtains open after dusk? Does open curtains make it more inviting, rather than create claustrophobia?

All my curtains get closed at dusk whether we have visitors or not.

 

That's because,

 

a. I don't want to feel I'm in a goldfish bowl and

 

b. We have some really nosey neighbours here and I don't want to give them any more fodder for gossip.

I don't have curtains...I just have blinds.

 

But I have never really considered it one way or another to be honest. My blinds are generally open in the day and closed at nights and I've never really given thought to whether I have guests over, platonic or not. It hasn't ever crossed my mind that this would be something someone would be concerned about.

I have absolutely no idea what I do tbh, I've never even thought about it! I guess I shut them when it gets dark as long as I A) notice there still open and B) am close enough to shut them from where I am with minimal fuss.

 

In general I think shut curtains/blinds at night is more cozy, but if it's the summer and were going in an outside the opens better!

Whether my window coverings are open or closed has more to do with the time of day then the nature of my company.
