How do you become "more aware" of female attention?

For some reason, I don't think that women simply run away from a man if they're out at a store or a small deli getting something to eat or whatever.. They're not going to stop what they're doing as their ears magically perk up and they make a face like deer in headlight..

Hah. I wasn't talking about standing in line at McDonald's. I was talking about in social situations.

I need this thread .... badly.

I've been told so many times I was getting signals, and I'm completely blind to them, in the most crippling of ways.

HOW CAN I BE MORE VIGILANT TO THESE UNNECESARILY SUBTLE SIGNALS!?

I miss them too, and I'm mostly weak on eye contact since I went deep into my head and depression/etc for years

Plus with girls that seem friendly or, at ease with someone like me liking them, I just figure the girl is smiling because she likes the attention

For me its pretty much as Pereph said, for a stranger I'm curious about I'll try to somehow move into his line of sight if its feasible or get into close proximity (like pretending to be interested in something nearby him at a mall for example) and see if he notices. If he glances, I'll give a smile but a different smile than just a polite one, one where my eyes are smiling too probably. But it really depends on the situation. For some reason at social settings like meet ups or at a club, where you're supposed to talk to people, I usually have no problem approaching guys I find interesting, and making small conversation. However at the mall or grocery/book store, its hard to know if approaching them would be disturbing them while they are shopping. They might not be there to "meet people". So I would just go by who returns my smile.
