iceisles Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 I don't usually post my work in here, but seeing how many threads there have been on this topic, I thought many could relate. All comments are welcome. Just Friends Outside the lecture hall Standin' in the pouring rain Bracing for those three words Let's be friends again Another dream's washed away Comin' to class just for you My open heart's been slammed shut What more can this lonely man do Chorus: How can we be just friends When thoughts of you never end Cuddling up together and then Waking up with you on my mind You say your heart's gone silent That I should accept it But you know I can't stand it Being just friends all the time End Chorus At the county park next spring Leavin' me alone with yesterday's paper Hearin' the same old lines How you'll catch me later I'm wonderin' why I try so hard Why things have to be like this If love is just an illusion I must be all out of tricks Repeat Chorus I'm just a shoulder to cry on A counselor on the clock If all they want is friends I guess that's all I've got I'm waking up with you on my mind But you know I can't stand Being just friends all the time [Fade] Copyright, 2005

98lbwuss Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 I love the line with the reference to the "lecture hall". What I would give to be of the age age where the lecture hall is an actual place and not just a distant memory.......
