I ask because there are people dating others with kids, and although people are quick to point out in their profile that their kids come first / they come as a package.....they fail to delegate some parenting rights to the new person, and when the relationship breaks down, they go after the new person for child support

Additionally....where I am, all it takes is 1yr for a common law to be established with the exception of Quebec where it is not recognized.

So for you men dating, are you aware that a woman who is already collecting child support from bio dad, can later come after you (double dipping) for CS?

With that said, would you still go in with your eyes close because of sex / you are in love? For the women that have a lot to lose, would love / sex cloud your judgement and lead to you hooking up with a "hottie" that will end up taking you for a ride?

I am in Quebec and after 1 yr you are consider a common law couple in the eyes of the government and need to put each other on your income taxes.

As for going after a man that is not the bio dad for child support, while already receiving child support, There has to be very specific circumstances for it to apply.

Gaeta....a very popular common law case in Quebec last year involved the owner of Cirque de soleil and his Brazilian girlfriend....she tried to get him for Alimony and she lost big time at the Supreme court.

It was established that in Quebec unmarried couples aren't entitled to alimony, and that only child support which is the right of the child is recognized.

Men go in with their eyes close and that is how people get taken for a ride. I wish I know then what I know now when I met my ex with her toddler daughter.....won't be doing that again for sure now that I have my own biological child.
