Sounds like you do

When I'm on a date? Hell no.

I just say I work at a hospital. I steer the conversation away from this...

I don't tell them I'm in 250,000$ of debt LOL

However the mean girl I've been with for the last 2.5 years was introduced to me as me being the med student

But, eventually this information has to come out. To be fair, any future gf needs to know about what she's getting herself into. Not early on perhaps, but sooner than later. You emphasize your earning potential. Most women are okay with debt knowing your earning potential, career path....

Or that I'm going into a field that is going to consume my life? And I'm probably going to have 3 failed marriages... I'm a good guy and WANT married life. I want children.

god, I want to let her sleep and stay up all night bottle feeding our son/daughter.

I want to build a snowman with our child. I want to teach him/her to ride a bike... I want to take trips to disney world...

ugh

I may never have this.

BS. There are many avenues you can take. Yes, early on it may be rough, long hours, etc. but, many people have and will do what you will do and be married and have children and go to disney world and play in the snow. There's no rule that says that you have to get into medicine to kill yourself or neglect your family. My gf is at a point where she is working reasonable hours. Still kicks her but each day, but overall, she has and makes time for her kids, me...

Do your homework, plan,

I'm in medicine.

I don't disclose that right away.

Interesting comment. The woman I reference here, getting to know her, would tell me she was going to the gym. I would ask "Where do you work out?". Because I work out and know most of the gyms in town. She would reply "Oh, the same place I always have", never sharing the name.

This past weekend she finally volunteered where. It's the most expensive country club in our area, maybe in the state. Her & her husaband joined when they were married. She only has to pay the monthly dues for her now. Which are not bad. The initiation fee is over $100K though, there is an interview and approval process, etc. When you hear someone is a member there, you immediately think "Oh, they have money!"

She said she nevers tells her current co-workers she goes there. So, I get it. She did not want me to know so I would not put her in a "class" she does not really want me to put her in.

I don't believe I'll ever have that, though.

I wouldn't date a woman seriously if she couldn't keep up with me professionally. I want a partner, not a kid to take care of.

Income, Education and Occupation are what determine our socioeconomic status (SES). Which one are you referring too?

"Socioeconomic status (SES) is an economic and sociological combined total measure of a person's work experience and of an individual's or family’s economic and social position in relation to others, based on income, education, and occupation. When analyzing a family’s SES, the household income, earners' education, and occupation are examined, as well as combined income, versus with an individual, when their own attributes are assessed.Socioeconomic status is typically broken into three categories, high SES, middle SES, and low SES to describe the three areas a family or an individual may fall into. When placing a family or individual into one of these categories any or all of the three variables (income, education, and occupation) can be assessed. Additionally, low income and little education have shown to be strong predictors of a range of physical and mental health problems, ranging from respiratory viruses, arthritis, coronary disease, and schizophrenia. These may be due to environmental conditions in their workplace, or in the case of mental illnesses, may be the entire cause of that person's social predicament to begin with.[2][3][4]

Education in higher socioeconomic families is typically stressed as a more important in topic in the household and local community. In poorer areas where food and safety are priority education can take a backseat. While youth audiences are particularly at risk for many health and social issues here in the United States such as unwanted pregnancies, drug abuse, and obesity"

I have 2 grad degrees and working on that professional degree (MD). I am a student, investigator, research coordinator, and clinician. I net (-) $ per month based on my student debt to income ratio.

does that put me at the lowest SES?

Income, education, and occupation.

I don't want to be appreciably smarter or more financially successful than my S/O. I want an equal, someone who doesn't need me but wants me. Just personal preference.

Great question. In my eyes you are middle to high SES.

I think it's important to pay attention to the one's who are not telling you the full story. For example, when I met my ex gf on Match.com, I think she listed "Consulting & Marketing" in her profile. As we talked she mentioned she owned her own business, she also did some consulting, and I forget the 3rd source of income she mentioned. She also talked about BIG family money, that thru the years she refused and did not want to be a part of.

About a month into dating her things, did not line up so I asked her "how do you pay the bills". That's when she told me she was unemployed. Turns out the "consulting" was occassionally talking to her former boss about ideas for the company (no income from that). Turns out "owning her own business" was selling organic makeup products on the side". Something she did not actively work as in setting up a booth at shows, events, festivals. It was the occassional "friend placing an order on her website". Turn out the "BIG" family money was all gone, and yes, earlier in her life she did take the freebies, and blew it all.

My initial impression of her was "career minded - indepednent - etrepreneur type, which I was attracted to. As time went by, things did not line up, so I started to ask questions.
