I was in a long-term relationship, almost 10 years. I REALLY have come to rely on my ex-boyfriend's good friend over the past few months. He comes over and helps me with things. We have the best talks, and I just tingle whenever I see him or talk to him on the phone. BUT I don't want to hurt my ex either. I still like him a little bit, but I'd really like to move on with his friend.

What are the guy rules when it comes to dating a friend's ex? I know for girls it's usually a big problem. You don't do it unless you don't want to be friends anymore. Are guys the same way?

How would you feel if he did it to you?

I see the purpose in the question, but in virtually every problem we ever faced, my ex and I saw things in different ways. (Reason #1 we're exes.)

I don't know my ex girlfriend did that to me and me and my old best friend don't talk anymore... I talk to her still, but I still have bitter feelings.

If your OK with it how do you know the friend will be OK with it as well? Maybe you will bend the so called rule, but will this friend you like? Or since your a chick you know you can get a guy no matter what? =) You damn girls got the power!

Seriously? The guy rules?

"Any girl who dates one guy then dates his close friend becomes instantly retroactively a 'ho."

If you don't care what your ex thinks, then go to it. If you do, then respect him and find someone new.
