Why would a guy keep coming back to the same girl?

Recommended Posts

Hello, everyone,

Why would a guy keep coming back to the same girl? Even when we likely won't commit, and when I haven't been sleeping with him, either. He recently texted me again after arguing and going no contact for a month or so, didn't say much but does show interest; it's the second time that this happens with this guy.

I've just remained calm and a bit friendly, but not sure anymore how to act and handle this. If I accept to date him again, it will seem a sort of game that he can leave and come back whenever he feel like it. Think maybe he only wants a FWB, has no options, or truly misses me? Need your perspectives and most genuine advice, please. :D

Luna33,

He's keeping his options open and just messing about.

will seem a sort of game that he can leave and come back whenever he feel like it.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

You nailed it here.

He'll only do it as long as you let him.

Remember - never make someone a priority when you are only their option.

He's not serious about you.

I would go NC, block him from your phone and don't make any more contact.

You asked "why is he doing it?". I don't really know but it seems like a control thing to me, he likes having you on a string.

You deserve better.

He's not interested in you, he comes and goes whenever he wants to.

Doesn't worth the trouble. Trust me.

The question isn't 'why is he doing it?"

The question you should ask is: what do I want to do?

If you want a big dramatic relationship with a lot of coming and going and making up and breaking up - assuming the pattern continues - then by all means, let him back into your life. If you think your connection was so special and he is so unique that it's worth all that, then start up talks again.

But if you prefer a quieter life, or he's not that special, or you prefer someone steady and not so flippant to come and go, then I would just ignore him.

Don't worry about what he wants, what motivates him. Think about what *you* want in your life. That should guide your decision.
