I just had a seemingly good date with a beautiful girl, what do I do now?

This is a funny and/or curious update

So I left it alone for a few days. Just chilled with a few friends for the final 4, went to the gym. Well this happened.

I called her on Monday (yesterday), no reponse, left a simple 'hey wanna go to that Irish bar tomorrow?' no response, I assumed she was at work, but still took it as a bad sign.

Well me and my buddy were drinking before the national title game. I was way more wasted than he was. He drives (its literally across the street) to the grocery store she works at. I'm drunk as a skunk and pick up the requisite case and frozen pizzas we needed. I see she is there and get in her line (drunk logic, it had been several days, its my grocery store, probably not as creepy as it is on paper)

But she is kinda happy to see me, blushes and says hi. Keep it casual, don't bring up anything about the date, I even handed her my ID (assuming it was store policy) but she even said 'oh I know what's good' with a smile. At the same time, this like 17/18 y/o twig of a bagger asks me what's up with the beer and pizza. I (most likely slur..lol) that its for the title game. He literally says 'Gee wilikers, I'm a huge Kentucky fan I hope they pull it out!" I look at him with the utmost disgust and say 'F*ck you and Kentucky, I'm from Florida, Uconn knocked them out, it was rough, but go Uconn because they beat the No. 1 team" she started cracking up. She then offered to meet up at the bar (today) since she was off, I said yeah totally. That's cool/I want too.

Well then this convo happens

At about 4:30pm (this is actually highly spread out)

her: Hey can I take a rain check for tonight? My best friend got off tonight and we want to go to this (whatever) I'm really sorry, we never have days off together anymore...

Me: No worries that's cool, how about that bar on Friday evening? I usually get off early

Her: I'm going to a concert with my brother I'm sorry my schedule has gone to crap ever since I broke my ankle.

Me: That sounds fun, its ok I know you're really busy with your jobs. We should try out (this other place) its (cool for this reason), I'm a little ties down Thurs/Sat but what days are you free?

Her: That sounds fun I want to go! I get my new schedules tomorrow. I'm sorry I'm trying to work as much as I can because I have to take a few weeks off after they put that screw in my foot. I'm usually not this busy I promise.

Me: Yeah its a cool place. But you gotta do what you gotta do, I understand. But have fun at your event with your friend tonight

Her: Thanks babe..

Well that sort of escalated fast lol. I never responded because I went to the gym and did some errands and didn't see the 'babe' text for over an hour. Which saved me because I would have almost assuredly said something 100% beta, why not leave her on the ropes a bit? After all at the time she said she was doing something.

But what do you guys think?

Yeah, that's good you didn't reply. She seems interested... or at worst, she is keeping you as a potential. Either way, nothing to lose really, might as well keep trying.

That whole beta/alpha thing annoys me though, but it is what it is. I know plenty of "alpha" guys I would make a fool out of in a few seconds.

Lol I did not make the alpha/beta comment because I have that "alpha": talk crap to them vs "beta": buy them jewelry on the first date type thing. I meant beta (wrong word admittedly) that I would have said something so sickening after she called me 'babe' That exchange with her annoying co-worker was not meant to impress her, he made me mad lol

Its curious, the 'golden rule' of if they like you, they will see you. But she was sincerely apologetic, and called me 'babe'. even if this was purely for attention seeking, its vastly ineffective because I would just stop talking to her.

Am I going crazy or does this make sense?

I am gonna say she was down until she found out you were younger than her. That's why she's dragging her feet - I don't see why though if you have your own pad and decent job.

26 and working at a grocery store doesn't put her in any position to judge, but she is.

That's kind cringing that you jumped in her line after she had been ignoring you. She does not sound interested at all to me.

Yeah I told him not to!! Though she did (at least for a moment) agree to see him (after TS was alpha and told the bagger to "fark off" heh). But her flakiness would piss me off. I wouldn't have bothered replying after she broke plans with you. You were too accommodating.

Sorry to say, it's probably over. You contact her (like everyone told you not to), so goes NC, then you get drunk and get in her line at the store and swear at the bag boy? IF she infact laughed, it was probably out of embarassment (I think you missed the "this guys a creeper look that she probably gave everyone but you). If you would have just played it cool, something might have come out of this.

Actually showing up drunk and swearing at the bagger could pique her interest though! (I know everyone on here is mature and we all would frown upon such behavior but it extends into that whole "girls love dbags/bad boys" territory..)

Him "so what about we etc?" " Her "Gosh, I'd love to but.." repeat, repeat.

I think the showing up is being over played here. I actually did not contact her other than the initial call text. I let it go, a few days later when I am doing my own stuff with my own friend I go to my own grocery store. Buying pizza and beer, not a single candy bar or crap like that. I fail to see how that is over the top creepy.

Facts:

-I did not see her beforehand or do anything creepy, I was buying food what am I supposed to do drive across town to another grocery store? It did not help I had told my friend about our date while we were chilling and told me if she was there I 'better go talk to her' (his motivations can be questioned lol, gave me high five for it going well)

-I did not bring up anything about our date nor did I bring up our plans

-She smiled when she saw me

-She brought up doing something like we had planned on date #1 and was a little playful with me (about my ID)

-I wasn't visibly stumbling wasted, and she laughed at/with the bag boy, she knew I was from Florida/a big UF fan, (if that was enough to make her never want to talk to me again, she would not have talked to me again.)

-She initiated about not going on the date, not the other way around

-Even though it was just a text, she was responding and I would take babe as in at least a little bit of a good sign.

The flaking is annoying, but I've been flaked on way worse, and never by a girl who called me 'babe' in any sense or fashion of the word (I do realize that does not mean we are married haha) - That's why I was a little confused

Ok by most standards, I am pretty terrible with women, and most that is unintentional. Well this just happened. Please help me not mess up......

It's like investing in property (lol). If you feel it's a good deal you just have to be patient with it! Keep going bro, looks like you hit the jackpot.

Nah man. "Babe" means nothing. You really need to NC this girl after what has transpired. She has displayed too much "power" and you've been too accommodating. Actually I would have purposefully gone in another line as to not run into her.

Please do NOT ask her out again... for your own sake. If she was interested she would make an effort at this point and say "I am free on Monday" or whatever.

I think she is trying to wear you down so you give up. I would just stop right now as she expects you will contact her again so by not contacting her you will be better off. If she truly wanted to go out with you she will be in touch. You made enough effort.

If she does contact you I would probably even ignore her unless she specifically is asking you out.
