hey,

I have an annoying knee issue with torn cartillage preventing me from things like sitting on my knees or truly kneeling.

could you tell me how I could still enjoy "it" while coping with the defect?

Can you afford surgery? A scope would clean out the ratty cartilage.

What is 'it'?

I have had surgery to remove it. Means I can at least walk normal and enjoy basic stuff. But for example, rolling around in bed requires attention...

Hmm, I feel for ya. I've had two scopes on the right, and one on the left. Not much more to scrape out, and I'm ready for a total on the right.

Does an ace wrap help? I found that if I could keep my kneecap from moving around a lot, it helped.

a lot of it is psychological I reckon. Some days are really excellent, others are not.

Adrenaline usually gets me far, but as soon as I feel something that indicates something is wrong, I start worrying.

not nice for a guy of 25 who actually shuns relationships because he thinks the girl will not want him anyway

Oh yea, sorry to hear that. Work on the physical so you don't have it worrying you in the back of your mind. The best defense against knee pain is strong muscles surrounding it, particularly your quads. Don't do squats tho, you'll end up like me, LOL! We don't want that. Good luck!

thanks Midwest. Nice to hear from someone who suffers with similar problems.

Is it something which can ruin a relationship, or can I work my way round it?

I admit, I have not actively searched for a girlfriend, also because of this.

oh, by the way, could you recommend me exercises?

I do biking as sports, which is no problem. Long walks perhaps.

Biking is really great, low knee stress, so keep it up. Swimming was recommended to me, but I hate it with a passion.

I understand what you mean about the good days; the temptation, when I have one, is to overdo it. Then I pay horribly for it the next day. Once I had both knees injected with local anesthetic and steroids on the same day. I felt like a million bucks. What a letdown when it wore off. :(

If you belong to a gym, there are machines that will develop your quads without stressing the knees like squats will. A good physical therapist would be the best to advise you on which ones however.

It will only ruin a relationship if you let it. If you were my age, you'd simply look for someone who's equally gimpy, LOL! If your surgery was recent, give yourself time. It took two years for me to fully recover from my last two scopes, which were six weeks apart.

Hang in there!

Try prolotherapy or PRP.
