AnneT1985 Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 (edited) Hey y'all I was wondering if you could please help me with a question? What is the role of godparents POST baptism? Does this include acknowledging the child at birthdays/holidays/special occasions? What makes a good godparent? Thanks so much for all opinions! xx Edited March 25, 2014 by AnneT1985
d0nnivain Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 It depends on how religious the people involved are. Mostly it's ceremonial. You should acknowledge birthdays & milestones though. 1
Grumpybutfun Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Good question. I am godfather to all my nieces and nephews and my best friends' children. I acknowledge all their milestones and they call when they need advice, or to talk about issues. I teach them stuff like driving, woodworking, mechanics and how to be good peeps. They teach me stuff like web page design, who is hot in music, and wonder about the world. All of them spend holidays with us and come here for spring break. My wife who is their godmother bakes them stuff and makes them Easter baskets, sends Valentines, etc. needless to say, she is well loved. G 2
