Hello

This is a run off from a previous post I had and I am sure this topic has been addressed many times.

There is a women I am interested in getting to know. We only just begun to talk a little but for the most part I keep my distance. I see her at the gym once in a while.

I don't really want to be her Facebook friend but we have some mutual friends and I see her respond to some of the same posts.

What are the thoughts about sending a little message on Facebook ?

Of course you can send her a friend request on FB. After you do, interact a bit more at the gym. Make a point to say hello when you see after. After you do that for a while, work up to an after workout meeting: Do you wanna go grab a diet coke? sort of thing. If that goes well ask her for a real date.

I don't think sending a 'friend' request is a good idea. I just don't know about being FB friends with someone you have interest in. Interested to hear thoughts on that though.

I was just referring to sending a FB 'message' not a request. Just a note following up on something she told me. Like "hey, saw you respond to ..... thought I'd say hi. How was that show ?" Something like that...

If you don't want to be her FB friend, stay the heck away from that site all together. It will only cause trouble. If you message her but don't friend or reject her friend request, that just feels creepy & will sabotage your long term prospects.

The rest of my advice stands: smile, say hello, ask her to join you for a port-workout beverage.

As soon as you message her on facebook she'll send you a request, then either you'll have to accept it (which I don't really like so early in a dating relationship, it ruins a lot of the fun of getting to know one another, and is just plain creepy that a potential partner can suddenly see all of your history and exes on one page) or ignore/reject it, which will probably confuse her and make her think you don't like her. Just ask her out.
