I was laid off work at the end of last month, this isn't the first time, they hire and layoff all the time in oil and gas. But while laid off and receiving unemployment, I don't like to go out to much, because when I do I spend money which I don't need to be doing right now lol. I found myself at home on the computer with nothing do. I decided to make a profile on POF. But I wasn't serious about it, I just wanted to play around.

I created this really stupid fake profile using some really goofy pics of me, making stupid faces and stuff. My profile said something like "I'm a 30 year old boy that lives with my parents. I'm waiting for my acting career to take off. I'm looking for a sugar momma so I don't have to work. I'm only interested in the finest, richest women" stuff that was obviously fake. I started sending stupid messages to girls, nothing insulting, or crude, just friendly trolling, message that were obviously just a joke. Stuff like "you look ahight, you got some money I might let take me out and show me good time" or "make sho you got money cause I can't drink that cheap stuff, I drink that fruity **** with the best in it", "don't talk about ya self, it ain't important, just let me do all talkin and you might have a chance"

I got replies from like 3 okay looking girls, cracking up, playing along. "I'll be yo suga mama:love ;)" and "LMAO your hilarious" immediate responses that went back and forth. Yeah some of them didn't get it and were of offended. Unfortunately I think I sent too many message, probably set of some automatic alerts and I was kicked off with a couple of hours lol.

A while back I tried online dating for real, not goofing off and just like every other guy, I had no luck at all. I think I might be on to something. What do you guys think?

I've noticed that if I start off by making fun of or teasing a girl, and its actually funny and not just mean, I get more positive responses than any other method.

So it could be the trick?

hum, how would you go about that? I think might step on my tail, trying to pull that off lol.

I think it depends. Women will often give guys sexual attention for entertaining them, but that doesn't mean they actually want to sleep with him. It just means they like the dancing monkey and want him to keep dancing. :p

Teasing a woman about herself can often establish dominance, which is something a lot of women find to be a genuine turn on. I don't know if that qualifies as teasing her though, more general entertainment. I guess the only way to figure it out would be to actually ask one out and see where it goes.

I see what your saying, you might be right. But this is only thing that I've experienced that really gets to their attention. When you actually experience getting immediate, no time wasted responses like I was getting. All kinds of light bulbs start to pop up.

Umm maybe entertain them for a while, get them to listening and liking you, then start really telling them about yourself?

Just an idea:cool:

I just need an example of what he was talking about. I might F that up if I can't pull it off like he did. I'm open to new ideas. :bunny:

I can see that it definitely has the potential to work, but it wouldn't work for me.

One of the only messages I ignored on OLD was from a guy who did something like that. Just didn't really appeal to me.

I'd wonder why all the charades?

Because average guys under 35 don't get flooded with responses like average women under 35 do.

This guy came up with something that works on a niche of women. The fact that it would not work on you (or women like you) is irrelevant. Since he has gone back to a traditional profile he is getting zero interest from any women, including ones that might be like you. If he could have gotten a date out of this prior to being deleted, he could have avoided having to admit being unemployed (which is generally like poison with most women).

Jay - I'd try to do the exact same thing again, but keep the blast numbers down. Include your email address (a new throw-away) so you might get to keep up the banter if your profile is nuked again.

Yep. The whole thing reminds me of this game we played in college. The group decided what you were going to have to say, and then left you in the middle of the square. They watched from a distance while you had to walk up to a girl and say it. Things that were absurd at best and rude at worst. And occasionally, the strangest things worked.

I remember one where my friend asked the stranger if she wanted to go to an Afghan restaurant with him, and she said no and started to walk away, and he shouted "there's people dying in Afghanistan, the least you could do is show some respect!" And then she laughed, turned around, and gave him her number.

This guy's "joke" account is unique. People respond more to confidence or uniqueness than any particular message or line I think.

I've tried that, it doesn't work. I'd have to make a whole new thread about it with pics of me, it's been done by a lot of guys. They ask why this isn't working for me? The thread fills up with comments and suggestions that don't work. Please try to step into our shoes, the regular guys shoes. I've had no success and I'm not bad looking. In the real world I've dated a lot girls, some pretty, some okay, a couple of them looked really good. I'm not the only guy to say this. The guy that posted right after me, he looks like a normal guy to me, he doesn't strike me as a pig, someone who would send a girl a sexual message, like complaints I hear from women.

So why isn't simple working? Don't worry about answering, it's a rhetorical question.

Now the idea I stumbled on was be stupid like I was describing for a little while. Then when she's got a good feel of your personality, and then cut the crap. Say "I'm just messing around, having fun. My name is so and so and such and such" I'm thinking maybe at that point, she looks at you pic and says "he's not that bad looking"

I'd probably be in the Lmao you're hilarious camp unless my wits work quickly enough to shoot off a smart reply.

This tactic takes all the sobriety out of dating right off the bat, which would help A LOT of men and women in dating because the pressure of all the serious implications makes people nervous and stuffy.

Definitely have to know how to smoothly transition into serious territory after the banter though. Some folks don't know how to get out of joke mode and then it's just weird.

If you shoot off a smart reply, I'd tell you "I'm playing around, it's a joke, don't have a cow" I wouldn't say anything sexual or demeaning.

I'm not sure if this will play out smoothly. I'm not even sure how to set this up any better than I randomly did on a whim. Check out my reply to phoe on page 2. Thats how I'm thinking this might possibly, if I'm lucky, play out. Once again, I don't know for sure, it's just a crazy maybe a farfetched idea. Maybe I'm on to nothing, IDK.

By smart I meant something funny along the same vein of your humor, not smart as in I'm defensive and offended.

It probably won't play out smoothly with a lot of women, but it's fun and some women will get it and it 'll play out as you explained.
