To move on, you need to understand this: HE IS NOT PART OF YOUR LIFE ANYMORE. HE WILL NEVER BE. If you still have the smallest hope, go contact him. See what he says. After all, this is hell for you and you don't seem to understand why are you really No contact. Maybe you want to contact him indeed. BUT think of this: that maybe it's all in your mind, that he's moved on and doesn't really care about your feelings. Has he tried to contact you?

It was my birthday and he sent a short happy birthday message. I didn't reply (yet?). I don't know if I should ignore this message as well or respond with a polite "Thank you". I hate that I have to analyze every little behavior when it comes to dealing with him. I just want this to be over

It will set you back an you'll regret it. yeah, I think I shouldn't reply to that message. I have never ignored someone's messages in my entire life, and I used to be against such behaviors. But I am not over him at all, and I don't want to make the false hopes even bigger! This breakup and the subsequent No Contact made my life and principles into a big mess!
