And as far as pedestals go? I'm not on one. But even if i was i don't allow anyone to bring me down. My opinion is the only opinion that matters at the end of the day.

Yes, your opinion is the only one that matters so why post here? Also, no one can control how you behave or think but with the kind of attitude you have, you'll have poor chances of being in a healthy fulfilling relationship. That is the price to pay. Just look at what happened to you and how your parents treated you. Look at what you are doing now.
