regine_phalange Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 These days I practice yoga for 30 minutes every day, and I also do 30 minute circuit training 5 days a week. I feel that I am missing some cardio, but I don't really like running/biking etc. On the other hand, I really like oriental dancing (belly dancing). Is is considered enough for cardio, if I do 1 hour per day? (I can easily do even two hours per day if I have the time, because I like it so much). 1
ASG Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Anything that gets your heart rate up is fair game. Dancing is indeed cardio. Not sure how belly dancing fit in on the scale, but sure, it's cardio. Might be soft though... 1

Oh well. We live only once.

Author regine_phalange Posted March 14, 2014 Author Posted March 14, 2014 oriental? what oriental belly dances? belly dancing originates from the arabic folks. why is it called oriental? The word "orient" was used to describe countries at the east of mediterrenean. Dunno why, im not a glossologist.
pink_sugar Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 I've gone dancing with my dad and it's definitely a workout. You may have also noticed that most dancers are in very good shape as most sessions of dancing are about 2 hours long. 1
mea_M Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Sure it can as long as your getting your heart rate up. Ever try Zumba? It's a ton of fun and very good cardio. Dance away. Mea :-) 1
newmoon Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I just put on music and dance high energy for 30 minutes to 45 minutes, it's a great workout. much better than belly dance. I did that for a semester at a local college and it wasn't cardio at all, at least not at a beginner level. 1
Ruby Slippers Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 One of my favorite home workouts is to put on good music for an hour or so, and do intervals of higher-intensity dancing and cardio, mixed with intervals of strength training (crunches, squats, free weights for shoulders, etc.). It's a great workout. 1
Tayla Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I dance around in my mind, I dance around my boss and dance around responsibilities. And I am all heart when I do it! (just some humor if thats okay) 2
