Apolo777 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I indirectly told my gf that we should break up. She reacted too crazy she said she wanted to die and started to hurt her self... I managed to calm her down and reverse every thing to normal but I dont see future with her and she is so attached to me and now that she seems suicidal I dont know what to do. I dont want her to hurt her self or do some thing crazy because of break up. I also recently discovered she had history of suicidal attempts before. This is too much for me I got my self into terrible situation. Need advice or suggestions I don't want to ask my friends for advise . Please help!
Hello_is_it_me Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 This manipulation is not healthy and is unfair to you. Though, considering her hx of prior suicidal attempts, if you leave her and you sincerely feel she is a danger to herself (e.i. making clear threats about hurting herself, has a plan of how she will, etc..) please report it to the authorities. Many states have laws where such individuals will be placed under surveillance for mental status evaluations. What she is doing is wrong and selfish, though you would still never want something to happen to someone in a fragile emotional state.
Damaged217 Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 My ex had a history of depression and I went through the same thing when I broke up with him. He had several suicide attempts. I realized that he was using that to keep me around (I didn't get back together with him but stayed in his life because I was worried what he would do.) This is very selfish and you cannot be expected to hang around for this person. What I did was tell his family about his suicidal tendencies and left them to worry about it. This girl is obviously not mentally stable and needs to seek help and that is something her family needs to get for her. You just go live your life.
No Limit Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Tell her parents about this and then leave. It's not your responsibility to take care of her. Most likely you can't help her anyway, if she truly is suicidal she needs professional help.
