Hi y'all!

I was wondering if I could get some feedback from those of you who have never had a Facebook account, had one and got rid of it or are considering leaving it.

What are some of the benefits you've experienced or expect to?

Has anyone given you a hard time? Have you felt like an outcast? Have you lost any "friends" or has it enriched the relationships with the ones you have?

I'd love your thoughts and opinions on this.

Thanks so much y'all! xx

I thought about deleting mine for a while...

Then I realized everyone's social calendars are now on Facebook so I left it open just to keep in touch with shows, events, birthdays etc.

If you delete your FB and don't be surprised if people end up forgetting to invite you to their events...

I'm not necessarily planning to (have thought about it) but know a few people who recently have and thought good for them. If a loved one forgot to invite me to an important event just because I didn't have Facebook, I wouldn't want to go anyhow to be honest and it would speak volumes about the organic nature of our relationship. I find that kind of sad...to stay on Facebook just to be mass invited to people's events who don't really care if I actually attend or not.

My loved ones call me to invite me to important events - Facebook or not.

I was referring to smaller events...I have tons of friends in bands and they mass invite people to shows because this is how it's done. I don't expect them to send every single one of their fans to personally invite them to shows.

Same thing with events organized by various organisms I follow on Facebook. this is what Social websites are used for now - to promote events.

I quickly realized how superficial many of my 'friendships' were.

The world didn't end.

I still talk to the same 4 or 5 people regularly. I...wait for it...pick up the phone and call them to see how they are.

I say go for it. If you really want to talk to someone, you'll find a way to contact them.

Without my FB, I wouldn't know what bands are coming to town (I'm really bad with email), or when events with friends are on. So no...haven't considered deleting it.

Still cant believe how people hang on everything that happens on FB...I had an account but closed it, quite frankly, it just seemed like a haven for a bunch of complaining, lonely middle aged women..

Cant say too much bad about it though...Bought a bunch of shares when it was at 22 bucks and its almost at 70 now...Keep it going, peeps..:)

I deleted mine for a few months last year.

Absolutely loved not having it, I was more productive with my time and it felt free strangely enough! I got a lot more texts/emails when I got rid of it as people had to find a way to contact me, so it was pretty good in that respect as I knew who my friends were!

I bought it back because I needed Facebook to sign in for a sporting event, but I keep mine for keeping in touch etc, my timeline is virtually empty!

Well that explains why you didn't accept my friend request.

I just needed to vent a bit, really got no one else to talk to. Looking for a virile 40 something to fill the void. I guess I'll head to the APA and pick up another cat. :(
