sleeplessinslc Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Did a quick search on break up songs - not the sad ones but the empowering ones. My current fave is Beyonce's - "Best Thing I Never Had" I created a playlist, kind of. Here are some of my favorites. What are yours? I Never Really Loved You Anyway by the Corrs So What by Pink Gives You Hell by All American Rejects You Oughta Know by Alanis Morisette Good Riddance by Greenday

LostConfused123 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 "I will survive" is a perennial fave but I'm not sure I can handle disco stuff right now. I've been listening to sad beautiful songs, somehow it helps me more than the empowering type songs. It just helps me embrace what I'm feeling and feel alive and know that for someone to have created that song, they felt what I am feeling and that makes me feel not so alone as well. Yeah, I know what you mean. One of my favorites that makes me feel like I'm not alone in my pain is . . I still love you. . -by Kiss. Every single lyric and verse is EXACTLY what I'm feeling! Obviously a Kiss fan here Hoping the best for everyone in their recovery today. ((hugs!!))
Madman81 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 This kind of music isn't everybody's cup of tea, but if it's empowerment you want, this song should do the trick. Part of the chorus: I won't be broken I won't be tortured I won't be beaten down I have the answer I can take the pressure I will turn it all around 2

Ah I go thru cycles- but I keep away from the sad ones. I don't deny myself the opportunity to grieve but I don't like feeling sorry for myself. It's funny how we find a song that is EXACTLY about what we're feeling. It's like we could've written it ourselves! 1
Author sleeplessinslc Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 The song about Green Day selling out? Time grabs you by the wrist directs you where to go So make the best of this test and don't ask why It's not a question But a lesson learned in time I picked that song in particular because of these lines. It is empowering to know that it's not the end of the world when something ends.
