Hi I am wondering are there any of you out there contemplating your second marriage?? I have been with my partner for three years and he has been separated for five years. They are going through the process of a divorce. My partner wants us to get engaged and whilst I am thrilled I was wondering has anyone else shared this experience?

Wow! Yes and no.

My MM wanted to become engaged. He hadn't initiated divorce or separation from his wife but he planned to leave her. In fact once he wanted to leave one weekend but I wouldn't let him leave his wife and child destitute. Frankly he was moving way too fast for me.

Long story short, I accepted, in retrospect I wasn't thinking straight. I left my job, left my husband, moved across country, and then he decided not to leave his family. I am way over him, it was the best outcome, such a jerk, now I look back on it I don't know what on earth I was thinking but to this day it annoys me that he played games with my life.

I don't know enough about your situation, but your question just hit a nerve. My advice though is wait until the divorce is final before you take that level of commitment.

Good luck!

I don't understand why ANYBODY married or not would want to jump out of a marriage to immeadiatly start another.

I agree. And I wouldn't want to marry a man who cheated on his W w/ me. If he can cheat on his current wife what's going to stop him from cheating on his next W? Really think about this BettyBoo. GL!

Thanks for your posts. Just to set the record straight he did not cheat on his wife. I met him after he was separated two years. She cheated througout their marriage and eventually he left. In Ireland you have to be seperated five years (i.e. living apart) to apply for divorce hence the time laspe.

Thanks for advice I think I might stall on that one!
