So I met this girl online and so far we've hit it off pretty decent, we've agreed to meet up in a few days and I'm looking forward to it. Though, there's just one thing that's been kind of nagging at me.

She's cute and all in her profile picture, but I managed to find her on Facebook based on information she's given me such as name and workplace. She has the same photo, but the photo is dated at 3.5 years ago. It's the only photo of her I can find.

So I'm wondering, maybe she's sort of like me and has trouble getting a good picture taken. Though, I'm sort of wondering if maybe she's gotten out of shape or something to the point she would actively choose to put such a dated photo on her profile.

maybe some people here have some experience with similar situations?

My 1st question is were on line did you meet her? dating site? internet game? ive had friends use pics that must have been 10 years old on some social network places..

Now if it was a straight out dating site then she should have had a more current one even if she also had the older one.

I dunno it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me far as meeting her I mean its going to be oblivious if shes changed..

We met on Plenty of Fish. I doubt the picture is older than what it said on Facebook at least. She's 22 now and doesn't look younger than 19 in the photo.

EDIT:

On the plus side, I initially freaked out when I saw what her last name was on Facebook because it was the same as one of my elementary school teachers, though luckily the spelling turned out to be different. This teacher of mine was once one of the most advanced martial arts experts in the country lol.

Haha I could see were that might be a little unnerveing the thought of kungfu dad that is.. Well ide say she prob just likes that photo Im not very photogenic myself..To be honest I hate taking new pics and will use older ones I like when its ok to do so. Dating site ehh 3 year old photo is pushing it but you got nothing to lose ether way right? Worst case you guys end up as friends if there's no physical attraction best of luck btw..

Nothing wrong w/ asking for more pics. I'd think only having one up is a red flag for sure. It's weird.

Ask to skype or for more pics. If she only has one pic on POF I'd say that's a HUGE red flag.

You can always go on a low cost, low time investment date like coffee, which you should stick too anyway. Its the only way to be sure with internet girls. Lets not forget there could be plenty more pros and cons in real life.

It's very possible she likes that picture and is critical of herself in pictures and she doesn't have any more recent photos she likes. She may end up looking exactly the same. I'd still meet up with her. She can't lie about how she looks for too long. It's gonna be very obvious.

I doubt that she's packed on 100 pounds from 19 to 22. Just doesn't seem the right time for a girl to do so. And you surely shouldn't have to worry that she's got a face full of wrinkles and a head of gray hair!

Some people just get lazy about pics, or have favorites that they continue to use. It doesn't feel like my profile is eight years old, but if I were to resurrect it, my main photo would be from 2006!

Enjoy your meet, I don't think it's a big deal, especially since she has the same pic on Facebook. I get really tired of the attention whoring peeps who upload a new profile pic every day.

Yeah we're meeting up for coffee, that was always the plan.

I think people are getting the wrong idea though, I'm not looking for an excuse to get out of meeting her, nothing is going to stop me there.

I did manage to gleam a little tidbit texting her the other day. Her phone is pre-smart phone era. So that could be insight into the real situation here. Not as easy to put pictures onto her PC for one.

Well, some people look EXACTLY the same as they did 4-8 years ago. I know I do. So chances are, she could look the same too.

Don't fret. Just enjoy the date.

I'd call it a yellow flag. It can mean a few things. The worst is that she has managed to put on a lot of weight in those three years. So having an old pic that shows you as what you don't look like? That's lying. It's possible she hates having her picture taken or is just overly critical of herself. Who isn't critical of themselves? Or she doesn't have friends to take pictures of her.

Go ahead and ask for more pictures. It wouldn't be rude if she has one picture up and you have several.

Yes, I would say it's weird but one meeting won't kill you.

It's just a first date. Go in there with no expectations and have fun regardless of what she looks like. If she doesn't match what she looked like in the photo then don't schedule a second date or contact her again.

Bingo. You're not buying a goddamn car! Just meet up with her. God forbid you don't get a solid ROI on that $1.70 grande French roast.

If she only gained one pound per month x 36 months = 36 lbs. heavier.

Same here. I once had my ex sort through a dozen or so pics of me taken within a ten-year period and told him to put them in chronological order. He couldn't. Hell, even I couldn't! :p

I've looked the same for the past 4 years. The only thing different about me is my hair color.

You all are foolz I say! Haz none of you ever internet dated before? HAHAHAHAH!

Ok, back to being serious...

I can guarantee you this chick looks NOTHING like her pic! You're going to wonder if it's even the same person, she's gonna look so different! Make sure you update us!

I would be VERY weary of anyone with a pic that old. I don't care how old her cell phone is. Keep the first meet to something short and sweet like coffee just in case!

I mean if you're really stressing out that much over it u could tell them to text u a cute pic of themselves. But do it in a flirty, non-demanding manner.

Though I have to say, your thing of worrying about the age of a potential date's profile pic is weird to me. It's something I would never think about or stress out over.

UPDATE:

Surprisingly enough, she's actually even better looking than her three year old photo. I think we hit it off pretty well, there was some definite chemistry going on I think. We were both kind of shocked when we noticed the coffee shop emptying out and looked at the time to see we had been there for four hours.

We're going to go out again, so here's hoping this is leading to something good for the both of us.

come to think of it my fb profile is from 3 years ago lol, i never though to change it. wasn't trying to trick anyone

Don't be afraid to casually ask, so would ya say that you still look the way your pic does?...or even ask how recent the pic is and see how she responds. And its quite common to ask if you have any other pics to share?

We all post the best pics of ourselves, however I haven't changed much, if it all, in the last few years, other than slight variations of hair color. So if I use an older pic I at least make sure its pretty close to how I look now. Otherwise its deceiving to use an older one.
