(I'm not talking about logistical things like running a business, etc, but rather big-picture, metaphysical things.) 1

Quite right, we should talk about things that can be explained (running a business, evolution) in one rational way, and talk about religion and other supernatural things in an entirely different irrational way. I can certainly see how that makes sense to the aluminum hatted amongst us.
