clia Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 True, but its not like I know anything about this girl... its not like we really talked much at all. We just kinda met. However, I still have a strong feeling about her I think it is way weirder to send a complete stranger a friend request just because you happen to have mutual friends than it would be to send a friend request to someone who you have actually met and spoken to in person. You have nothing to lose. Nothing. If she doesn't accept your friend request, you are in exactly the same position you are in now. If she does accept, then you are at least Facebook friends and may be able to begin interacting with her. Why is this so frightening to you? It's really not a big deal at all. You are majorly overthinking it.
Author MightyHeracross Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 I've been in your position when I was younger. Don't let the fear control you. It's extremely counter-productive. You'll end up wallowing in self-pity if you don't do anything as opposed to doing something and possibly failing. At worst, you can be proud of yourself for trying. "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take" Send the friend request. Send a message. Go from there. Well what did you do when you were in this situation? How old were you? What ended up happening with it? I think it is way weirder to send a complete stranger a friend request just because you happen to have mutual friends than it would be to send a friend request to someone who you have actually met and spoken to in person. You are majorly overthinking it. To me, its a lot less weird to send a FR to a stranger on Facebook that I have mutual friends with because they can't/won't judge me since they don't know me. This girl knows me, so she can judge me.
babycakees Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 You are still totally overthinking the whole thing! The longer you wait, the weirder it is going to be. SEND IT! 2
Assasda Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 You want to talk yourself out of sending the friend request. Keep talking yourself out of it like a coward. Lets face it, you are a coward. You can come up with a 1000000 excuses why you shouldnt contact her and try to trick yourself. I know how you can not be a coward. You can simply not be a coward anymore, by stop letting your past dictate your life. You can simple friend her on facebook, and you have been transformed to a differernt person. So choose to live in the past as a coward. Or choose to be brave in the present. Its as easy as that. I dont think anyone can help you anymore.... and stop asking peoples age. It really doesnt matter 1
1908 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Well what did you do when you were in this situation? How old were you? What ended up happening with it? I did the same thing you're doing right now. Over-thinking every little detail instead of just acting. You're fearful of what she might think of you like it even matters. It's just a friend request. If this scares you so much, how could you ever ask her out if it came to that? I asked out a female coworker not too long ago and she declined. Gently but still a rejection. It stung as they always do but I felt proud of myself for putting myself out there. And I still have to work with this girl mind you. It was slightly awkward the first time we worked together after that but since then, we've gotten along as good as before. Why? Because I haven't over-thought why she wasn't interested me. I tried and that's all any of us can really do.

And what ended up happening where it was awkward for you, is exactly what I'm nervous about. However, the difference is, you were forced to be in the same place as this girl. I won't be forced, but if I see her again, it will be with my family and hers and out family friends. That will probably make things a bit more awkward, but I do get what you're saying, so thanks

It really doesnt matter I know I'm a coward, but becoming less of a coward is sooooo much easier said than done. I know it may not seem that way to someone who isn't terribly shy, but it is. This is about so much more than just the girl, at this point. Its about being shy in life.
