Phantom888 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 This past weekend I proposed to my GF of 9 months. I knew she was THE ONE for me very early on. We are both 39 with small children, and we met on MATCH. We were both in bad marriages, so we knew exactly what we wanted if we had a chance to start over. She is the love of my life, and the one I am destined to be with. I never knew I could be this happy and satisfied. I am so happy I am beyond words. We will wed probably around Christmas time. There is much planning to be done. I think O.L.D. brought us together, because I would never have met her if MATCH didn't exist. Based on our initial Facebook profile, we had zero mutual friends even though we both have hundreds of connections. It's a miracle we found each other. We both had severe bad experiences online, but we took a chance and learned from our mistakes. I am the luckiest man in the world, and I am deeply and madly in love with this woman. Just wanted to share the positive news with everyone. 43
pickflicker Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 That's such awesome news - congratulations! I knew that it would all go perfectly. Nothing to be nervous about! I'm going to be a total girl (don't tell anyone, it will compromise my hard-ass exterior) and ask if you get a chance, post a pic of the ring? Congrats again!! 1

Author Phantom888 Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 Congratulations! You are proof that true love is possible. I wish you a lifetime of happiness together Tell us the proposal story!!! Ah... this is my favorite part. I have been planning this for a long time. Here is the play by play: On Saturday I told her to pack for one overnight stay. We are going somewhere to celebrate since we didn't have a chance to do it on Valentines day (due to all the kids being around that weekend). She thought "ok....a post valentines day trip"...so she asked what she should bring to wear. I told her to dress warm for this afternoon, and dress nice for the evening. That's all i told her...she had no idea where we were going. On our trip down to the 1st destination, i commented, "wow you really trust me.....you have no idea where we are going...how do you know I'm not gonna sell you to some Arab slave trader? I hear blonde women with blue eyes are very desired over there!" She responded, "Ok...if I see a big Arab ship...I'll run!" We got to the Redondo Beach marina around 4:30pm, and there was a Gondola waiting for us. She was surprised. I mean, this Gondola was really nice. The driver gave us privacy, and took us around the harbor. It was super romantic...with champagne, cheese, fruit, and spanish music. We were witnessed by people on the shore and nearby boats. The ladies all gave admirable gestures, while the men gave me this look: "thanks for making me look bad in front of my woman." The sunset was beautiful. Next we headed to the local Hilton hotel where I reserved a room with a balcony facing the marina. As we entered the room, the clock radio was playing the song "Happy". We had 20 minutes to change and get ready, and luckily my woman is naturally beautiful she didn't have to take too long. She did her hair a bit, touched up makeup and then changed clothes. We went to the lobby, and a limo was waiting for us. We got into the limo and it drove us to Beverly Hills, to the most romantic restaurant in Los Angeles (according to LA Times). She was really excited because she had wanted to go there for a long time, but never had a chance. We got to our table in a private corner. The next table was 10 older people celebrating someone's wedding. It was really romantic, and the service was really nice. We ordered wine, and the most amazing steak and sea bass. My woman was so happy with dinner... she thought it was the perfect evening. Then we ordered dessert. I told her that this was the happiest day of my life, and I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I got on one knee and brought out the ring. I asked her to marry me. She started crying...and said "YES YES YES!!!" we kissed, and the waiter shouted, "He proposed and she said YES!!!" The whole room cheered and I started to cry a bit. When we got out of the restaurant, the limo was waiting to take us back to hotel. It was a fantastic evening. We couldn't wait to get out of our clothes. We made love for an hour with the balcony window opened...overlooking the harbor. Overall it was a magical experience... I still feel like I'm dreaming. She has been staring at her ring non-stop for the last 2 days. I don't really understand why women like diamonds so much, but I figure who can refuse a rock that is the price of a car?? 14
