So, I came home from college for my birthday weekend and I found a ring that looks pretty expensive which I know is my ex's without a doubt. Should I mail it to her with a note that just says:

I found this back home, it looks pretty valuable, and it might be the ring you told me you were missing. I hope you are doing well.

Sincerely,

******

Is this a good idea?

I'd send her the ring and nothing more.

I wouldn't send her the ring. YOu don't know it's hers, it seems, but you hope it is so you'll perhaps have a reason to reach out? NC is critical for maintaining sanity after a breakup. You're tempted to break it and you have to ask yourself if it's for the right reasons.

If you really do believe it's her ring and she's devastated not to have it, then I agree with other poster. Arrange to get it to her without comment, without even your name on it. That will accomplish the return without tempting contact.
