I had a bright idea when I was feeling reflective and broke no contact. I basically watched a program about forgiveness (sex and the city where Carrie gets back with Mr Big) and thought I'd say sorry to him for the nasty things I said to him over the break up. I realise I'd done some wrong things in confusion but he broke up with me and wanted me to pursue him. He's now in a new relationship with another woman and blames me for pushing him into it. I've probably just validated his feelings by apologising.

What now and what if he replies? I'm so confused, I'm seeing things as they were and realising I made some mistakes as well.

But what do I do with that information if we can't reconcile now?

Worry over due to joys of technology I managed to delete it before he read it!

What do I do with the regret of things is done wrong though?

Do I apologise? He hasn't.

Learn from it, forgive yourself and do not do those same mistakes to the next person you are with.

Ask yourself, what do you hope to gain from this apology?

And what if he doesn't respond or if he reponds negatively?

From a moral standpoint, is there ever anything wrong with apologizing? No.

There's nothing wrong with it. He may not respond. If he responds negatively...so what? You did the right thing by apologizing. If he's a decent person...and maybe not instantly...he'll accept your apology and forgive you. That isn't an admission of anything, or an offer of friendship, it's forgiveness.

Will it make you feel bad if he doesn't respond? Yeah. But you'd still know you did the right thing.
