ThatGirl213 Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 So there is this guy who likes me. Says he has a crush on me since a long time. I am still getting over my past relationship and he says I can take my time. He is a great guy and I do see myself getting into a relationship with him after I resolve my issues. A few weeks ago, he had send a poem for me as I was feeling really depressed. Beautiful words. Seemed like he wrote it because there were situations mentioned in it that actually happened to us. Yesterday I realized he had copied the whole thing from a website. When he send it to me, he made it seem like he wrote it. Now I am thinking. Isn't that lying in a way? What he did doesn't change the way I feel about him but this has me thinking if it is a red flag.
OpheliaSong Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 (edited) Ask, and if he tells the truth, he was trying to cheer you up. If he lies.....In college I had a really cute guy pretend Bryan Adams song lyrics were his own creation....I lost interest. Exaggeration or white lies are still deceit and if he will lie about that..... Plus, plagiarism is a serious offense. Edited February 22, 2014 by OpheliaSong 2
Author ThatGirl213 Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 Was the website a blog? Any chance that he did wrote it and posted it? Yes, it is on a blog. In fact on several blogs. He likes to write poems and record them on his phone. He also likes to write his feelings and emotions down but I am not too sure about this one.
Author ThatGirl213 Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 Soo.. it might have been his blog? Possibly? It was posted in 2010. I will have to check if its his blog.

TaraMaiden Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 It depends. Unless he flat out said 'I wrote this for you' you can't really accuse him of lying... Yeah... did he actually ever say, "here, I wrote this for you...."? If he merely gave you a poem, and your interpretation is that it was a personal gift from him, then you can't really be too harsh on him. 2
Author ThatGirl213 Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 He never actually said he wrote it for me.. All he said was he hopes his chessy lines cheer me up and since I don't understand how he feels about me, he hopes this helps. But he did say this "I was wondering whether to do it or not but I figure ill just do it and hope for the best". I don't know if he meant taking something from the net to make me happy. I thought he was talking about him writing it. He took his time to send each line. So I assume he typed it on his phone.
TaraMaiden Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Yeah. That doesn't suggest to me that he's implying he's the author, though I can see how you might think that. I think the fact that he actually took the time to find a suitable poem, and had the courage to send it to you, was commendable... How many guys do you know would actually make that effort at all? 1

Yh...I know...It had made me very happy at that moment..Like I wasn't depressed at all after. So points to him for doing that.
Kizza Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Did he say he penned the poem just for you? Why jump to a conclusion he is a liar because he sent you a poem? I don't understand... :s
TaraMaiden Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 No.... Look, it's only 12 posts... maybe... read the thread....? 1
