Gaeta Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Wednesday night I had a first coffee date with someone. Nice man, really. He expressed his desire to see me again over the weekend. The following day I had my annual medical exam. Just a routine check up but when my doctor touched my side I jumped in pain. This was totally unexpected I always have a A1 bill of health. Doctor said something is the matter with my right kidney. I have blood tests to go to and an ultra sound in 2 weeks. I am worried I may have something serious so I lost all interest in dating and all interest in seeing this man again. I am wondering if it's normal or I just did not have enough interest in him to start with? Would you lose interest as well? How should I handle it with him?
Raena Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 You met him once, you haven't developed a serious attachment to him yet. I think it's perfectly normal to feel the way you are feeling now. As to how to handle it with him... I'm not sure. How much of your personal life do you want to share with this person? It's probably not necessary to tell him all the details. Maybe something general like "a personal situation has arisen that I need to deal with, I'm sorry but I just can't date right now" At least let him know, don't just pull a Houdini and disappear. 2

You may not want to go into any great detail about why you can't see him again, but I definitely would say something to him. It's always the worst feeling when people just up and fall off the face of the earth.

I sent him a message saying some unexpected news from that appointment were giving me concerns, it was a really bad timing to meet someone new. He said he understood.
