Tayken Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 This story came to the limelight a while back, and when the media got wind of it and started poking around, it seems it has been become too much for the man involved...shame perhaps on his part. I mean we've talked here about age differences, but this one takes the biscuit. People can deny it all they want, but when you hook up with a really huge age gap person, the motives are usually clear Renkers says he met Jessica Miller, 31, through the online dating website establishedmen.com in 2012. The retiree says he proposed to the UBC student just over one year later. Shortly after the engagement, Renkers says Miller picked out a 3.42-carat yellow diamond ring, which cost $203,500 plus an additional $24,420 in taxes, from Tiffany & Co., and he purchased it for her. Ten days later, Renkers says, the relationship ended. Renkers says he asked for the engagement ring back, but Miller refused. On Valentine's Day, he filed a lawsuit against Miller in B.C. Supreme Court to get it back. However, Karma is a b1tch and am sure there will be some guy coming around whispering sweet things in her ears, only to get some of that action. Everyone knows who she is now
Philosoraptor Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 People do stupid things. I wish I had the kind of money that I could just toss it around like that. But the real question is who buys yellow diamonds? I saw a pile of them when picking out the wedding bands a week or two ago and they look the color of the pee of someone who keeps well hydrated. 1
PegNosePete Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I'm not sure what this has to do with OLD. If they'd met in a bar, would the thread be entitled "Bars... got to love them :-)"?
kodakgirl Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 That is pretty awful but I agree it has nothing to do with OLD. Right now I am reading the original book "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" by Anita Loos, written in 1926. The main character is a textbook gold-digger, wrapping men around her finger just so they will buy her stuff (and it is first person, so we are in no doubt at all). Loos based it on observation. In 1926. 1
FitChick Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 No fool like an old fool. He started dating four months after his wife died. She must be laughing her ass off in the Great Beyond. Seems to me there have been similar lawsuits and the woman always had to give back the ring because it was meant as a promise of marriage and they didn't marry.

Cos they met on an online dating site..that's why. Hopefully a lot of young guys on here are taking note from this story when it comes to your "little girlfriends"? This is what happens in reality when you end up with someone that has been brought up to feel entitled to everything i.e. the world owes them, and they are just looking for a man to carry them. There is a lot more like her out there, not all single...some are married and their husbands are trapped because they are scared to ask for a divorce. Hopefully you are clever enough to have a pre-nup in place?
Keenly Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Hopefully you are clever enough to have a pre-nup in place? This is such a touchy subject. So many women say " I marry for love and that's all I need " nut if the man even mentions a prenuptial agreement, the weddings off because " he is not fully committed " or " he has one foot in and one foot out " Usually they get upset. When they get upset, you know either A) their true intentions, or B) they want that place" pass go " escape hatch, just in case it doesn't work out at least she gets a little something something for her troubles.
