What if your ex wishes hbday via mail when you are in %100 NC?

Simple "thank you" or keeping NC hard?

It depends on where you are. If you have zero emotional attachment and are completely indifferent to them... then sure, respond. If it's tugging at your heartstrings in any way though you are best to take care of yourself and ignore/delete/go about your day.

Ignore it. NC is NC. Life goes on and don't look back.

Always ignore. The same as "I'm on fire, can you please get a bucket of water?"

Unless the text is "I'm sorry, I screwed up, I love you, I want you back", then hard NC is maintained.

I will listen you and will stick to NC then :)

You can say thank you...nothing wrong with being cordial as long as you don't expect it to go anywhere.

My ex sent me a simple happy birthday email and I responded with "thanks." I didn't feel bad, had no regret, etc because I knew my ex was just being polite.

Many people on here say NC until they come crawling back to you. I can tell you that if I wanted to get back with someone I broke up with, I'd test the waters first. If I didn't get a reply for a birthday message, then I would know that anything further would be a waste of time...
