Voice? lol

I hate when that happens, nice picture and then the voice does not match at all which could mean they are using a fake picture. I just ended a phone call with this woman because she sounded 53 but said she was 38 which I think is a lie. So I had to make up a lie to get off the phone because the voice of someone combined with the personality is what holds me on the phone.

Anyone has this experience?

I ran into a few guys back when I OLD and they would refuse to call only text. When I'd finally speak to them they had weird voices or mannerisms you could tell just by how they spoke, like super fast, or super slow.

I can't say that I reached any conclusions about a person's age over the phone but I did not meet people if I didn't care for what they said on the phone or if after speaking to them, I just didn't feel we were compatible.

When I did OLD, I wasn't too crazy about the phone . It was awkward talking to someone you had never met in the first place ! I talked to someone who was nice enough, but "blah blah blah" he loved to talk..on and on ! I met him. He was the same way in person. I guess I simply like the quieter types. He must have felt the same way, because he never called me back. Chemistry is chemistry. You either have it , or you don't !

That's true about chemistry but if the voice is unattractive I'm gone lol

OMG. I am so glad you bought this topic up. First I am straight female immersed in the gay community. I provide healthcare for the GLTB community and I am a champion for the cause.

Back to OLD. I keep having phone convos with dudes that "sound gay". What I mean is soft spoken with voice mannerisms that I am very familiar with. Noteworthy is that there are gays who don't "sound gay" BTW. I really hate even bringing this up due to the stereotyping but it concerns me.

A friend of mine bashed OLD for all the married and gay guys that hit on her. I thought she was being a paranoid homophobe but at this point I my self have begun to wonder. The other night I got mauled by some dude that was beyond peculiar but who also had the familiar mannerism and soft voice. And yet again today I had another first phone call where the man on the other end sounded suspiciously femmy.

I just don't want to be a part of the turmoil suffered by the poor guys who don't feel safe coming out nor those who are still hoping to convert themselves.

I am 42 and people think I sound like a kid. However I think  if I tried to snag a youngin they would notice that I was in my 4th decade of life right away. I don't get it.

I think some people think they look better than they do. My mom told me the one day she caught a glimpse of picture of her mother and she thought to herself "what is my mother doing wearing my clothing in that picture" then she exclaimed "I looked a little closer a realized it was me!":lmao: Her mother had her at 40 so she was pretty much an old lady mother. Cottony white hair and wrinkley as all get out.

The point is the change is gradual for those who see themselves everyday.

Smoking can make many people sound older. Drinking, too. Ever hear the term "whiskey voice?"

I spoke to one man on the phone frequently in the course of the business day. I pegged him to be about 70 and wondered why he was still working. He was funny and intelligent, we got along great. Then he had to come to our location for a conference and I nearly fainted. He was 40 and hot, hot, hot! Looked like Gregory Peck. Did I forget to mention he smoked?

I can't really tell the age from the voice...

Also, I have nearly identical voice to my mother who is 60. Either I sound old or she sounds young  Even her parents can't tell us apart. Same goes for my brother & dad..

And when I answer the phone, callers think I am my 15yo daughter. This has been going on since she was 12. :o
