elmichi Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 So I have been dating this guy for three months and he is great about everything, especially being creative with gifts. For Christmas he got me a necklace and he custom engraved a wooden box with my initials. My birthday he got a bunch of coffee/coffee related items from the coffee shop we had our first date. So, I have no doubt he'll do something sweet for VDay. I went on his amazon account (he gave me his login awhile ago so I could buy my textbooks) and saw these leather shoes on his wishlist~ $75. I got these for him and I also got him a $5 bacon soap for laughs. Is this a bad gift? Is it too much? We are both in grad school.
acrosstheuniverse Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 No, sounds thoughtful. If you can afford it, it's no big deal. If you are both broke, then yeah maybe $80 on Valentine's Day might be a little excessive! I'm not sure what to do about V-day as I've only been seeing this new guy a few weeks. We are both not fussed about it, although if I've been with somebody longer (months/years) I've always gone for a card and a thoughtful little gift. I will probably just get him a card in case he gets me one, and not bother giving it to him if he doesn't buy me one if he does or doesn't, I couldn't care less. 1
BlessYourCottonSocks Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Personally, at 3 months...I would get him a card and share a little cake/ cupcake or something small. And anyways, Valentine's Day is all about the woman. Men could not care less.
Author elmichi Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 Yeah, I can afford it. I don't think I needed to spend this much but I thought why not. As for you, I recommend getting a card from treat.com! They have funny ones and you can customize it. I would just get something small for a few weeks.
Author elmichi Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 I guess that's why I just got him a practical gift. Something he wanted to buy for himself already. I'll leave the wining/dining/teddy bears to him lol.
tlegend Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Best valentines day gift I ever got was silk boxers. It was....almost magical to wear them, and fairly impractical. Fairly certain it had woody woodpecker on them which made them a fun and lighthearted gag gift. I was impressed. EDIT: To relate: We really don't care what you get us.

BlessYourCottonSocks Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Still nice to get us something too! Yea, I think the best gifts reside in the bedroom for men. 1
CaliGypsy Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 YOLO right? Sounds like a lovely gift and one that will be very much appreciated by someone who himself puts a lot of time and effort into choosing thoughtful gifts.

organizedchaos Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Yea, I think the best gifts reside in the bedroom for men. Yes, just like any other night. So for Vday, get us a gift as well. Show us you put some thought behind it and that you appreciate us too. Then give us a bj. 1
Barbarossa Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Yea, I think the best gifts reside in the bedroom for men. I agree a blowjob trumps any gift it's not even close
Omei Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Guess you guys dont have gfs that give the BJ's often huh? I wouldn't consider that a gift lol I think buying a guy something he's pre wanted always makes them happy your gift is great. 1
