Iguanna Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 They are expensive and take up all your PRECIOUS time There, I just edited it so it sounds better
WP4046 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 There, I just edited it so it sounds better That's why I laugh when people get jealous of someone who got back $7000 on their income tax because they have 3 kids. It's not going to last long because those 3 kids will eat up that money very quick 1
Author BlessYourCottonSocks Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 That's why I laugh when people get jealous of someone who got back $7000 on their income tax because they have 3 kids. It's not going to last long because those 3 kids will eat up that money very quick Yea, my friend was bragging about how she is getting $5,000 back because she has a kid. Thing is, a lot of people have kids for the perks. A lot of people abuse the system. You can get paid to stay at home and be a mom, while the ones with no kids have to work for their money. 1
Blade96 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 " my opinion a person who doesn't ever want to have kids is majorly selfish. We haven't come to this world only to have fun and enjoy ourselves, we have to create life and give to the society. I know most of you disagree (please do not give me the "what if someone wants to be a doctor who discovers the cure for the cancer?" argument, I've heard this a lot) but this is my opinion and nothing can change it. I accept of course the right someone has to choose not to have kids, but this doesn't mean that I don't consider this person selfish." - Oh of course, we're more selfish than the couple who wanted to have kids and planned their "parent child sex with them" before they were even conceived. Or the parents who brutally tortured Brianna Lopez EVERY DAY of her short life til she died. But - we're the selfish ones. Make me laugh again, would you? Please.

Blade96 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 as for what will I do with my life? I want to become fluent in Russian, then I wish to get a job where I am using my Russian. Yes I plan to travel, to Russia, but not only Russia. I want to know the world. I will also give back, if I can. By the way, I've a major in history. The people who actually left a legacy, some outlasting centuries, It wasn't through having kids. It was through their work. Yes, history books might mention if they had a family - but no one knows them for that. Their legacy and so immortality - was their work. Just thought I'd throw that in their because still so many out there who think, Immortality legacy = kids. But that is NOT the case. Einstein and Pasteur had kids. But no one knows about them. No one even cares. And certainly history never cared.

Leigh 87 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Leigh, you're completely wrong. You live in Australia, right? Well, so do I, and your wailing about how you'll never afford anything is just utter rubbish. I've got a mate here at work, he and his wife earn a combined income of under $100K p.a. They have a small daughter, are home owners (mortgage), and his wife is from England. Every 18 months, they travel there for 5 weeks to see her family. Your complaints are utter tosh. Seriously. I would love to have kids when in love with the right person (not going to jinx it by assuming it'll be with my current boyfriend). The only reason I don't want them is because I am not sure if I can afford them AND still travel occasionally, afford them braces and tutors if need be...and have a dog shelter in my back yard. If I can afford all those things on a median Aussie Salary alongside my partner who earns roughly the same, HELL YES I would have kids. 1
emva07 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 It will affect it if you date men that want kids. If not, you're good. Like with anyone looking for a specific trait, it will limit the pool. I don't' think not wanting kids is a bad thing but I do think that some of the reasons people give- and some were on the Thoughcatalogue article are lame. The whole, I'm not ready, I'm immature, I don't have money....trust me, there are tons of people out there who weren't ready, are immature, and live on welfare. Most parents I'd say weren't ready and had no clue how to do the parenting thing but they succeeded. Everyone thinks that way, but when it happens you adjust. If people waited to have kids until they're ready, nobody would have kids. Those are reasons you don't want kids NOW, hence people telling you you'll change your mind. It's like getting a tattoo saying "backstreet boys" gosh darnit nobody could tell you no when they said you'd change your mind, NO ONE. With time you may change your mind....or not. I'm sure you have much more valid reasons than I'm broke, not ready, and immature (those are mine too). I think people take the kids thing to an extreme, they either really really really have to have them or they really really really don't. I don't put thought into it, I just don't get pregnant, and if I ever do...well there are ways to take care of it but I like knowing that if or when I change my mind, I still have that option. 1

Bruce Leigh Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I know to stay away from anyone attractive women without kids in the 29-37 age range because I know 95% of them want kids Last relationship ended due to my refusal to entertain the possibility of having kids with her. When kids were 1st brought up in conversation i made it clear i have never wanted kids nor will i ever. She brought it up again in the new year, i had not changed my mind, we went our separate ways. Don't blame her, she turned 34 on Feb 16th and she deserves to find someone who can give her kids. Longest relationship i have been in was just under a year. It always seems around that time that kids are often brought back up. Every women i have had a relationship with has known of my desire to never have kids. In my experience, it has affected my chances of finding someone. Turning 39 soon. Not getting any easier
preraph Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 It definitely limits your pool. Generally, the younger a guy is, the less he will say he cares about it, but that may only be because he knows he won't be with you forever. There are whole childfree communities online. Just google "childfree." Most women say they do have trouble finding anyone without kids or who doesn't want them in real life and dating online. Men will contact them anyway even though they say not to unless they don't have/want kids, and then get mad when they say they're serious. You have to guess it's because they just want sex and don't give a flip if you want kids or not. The problem with the childfree community is that that is sometimes they only thing they share in common. So just being of the childfree state of mind isn't enough to form a good bond with someone. It's still best to just keep going places and being with friends in real life, not online, and do the things you like most to expand your circle of friends and meet ones you have something in common with. 1
