Went with some co-workers to lunch at Hooters today, and when the girl I just started dating asked where I was at for lunch she got upset. Should I apologize for this? Did I really do anything wrong?

Posted

Oh, FFS! No, you didn't do anything wrong. How long have you been dating and how old are both of you?

I just turned 40 and she is in her early 30's. We just started dating about a month and a half or so

Hell no you did nothing wrong. Now if you would have said you took her there on a first date, that would have been a bad choice IMO.

She sounds like she has jealousy issues.

On the basis that we had a family lunch at Hooters one day, no nothing wrong with what you did.

Hooters is cheesy and a bit naff, that's all.

Yep, serious overreaction. Good luck!

Why was she upset?

There is nothing wrong with eating at Hooters. I like their chicken wings!

No, of course you do not have to feel guilty. She's overreacting. As far as I know, you can't touch the girls at Hooters, so what's the problem?

Tell her to get a grip!

Hooters is very family friendly. I have seen many kids eating there. Sure the waitresses are beautiful with nice breasts, but that is only in addition to their friendly atmosphere and great food. So there is nothing to hide about your going to Hooters.

She feels the skimpy outfits demean and objectify women. I admit, the scenery is easy on the eyes, but I go for the hot wings with ranch dressing...one of my few cheat foods that I like to indulge in. :bunny:

Family friend my arse. If there are families who are now taking their young children to Hooters and claiming it's family friendly, well....sheesh. Hooters was design and created to lure men into the establishment. BIG BOOBS and super short shorts DOES NOT SPELL "family friendly." It spells, "hey, guys look at these BIG BOOBS and MY SHORT SHORTS. And eat good for while in here." Just b/c you see parents bringing kids into such places doesn't make it family friendly. I know some place parents take their kids and people would universally be annoyed or appalled.

OP, no you didn't do anything wrong. But if you choose to stay in this relationship, you now know she won't likely approve of you frequenting such places. Just be aware of this.

Enjoy the food...and the big boobs and short shorts.

I usually have a no tolerance policy towards this stuff but Hooters is harmless. They also make some of the best chicken wings you can find.

When I read the title of the post, I was afraid you were going to say that you went to Hooters on the date. Because unless both people really like chicken wings, it's not a great date location.

I don't care if you went to can actual strip club or even a juice bar for lunch, it's a non-issue.

If she can't handle your lunch choice, you shouldn't have to handle her attitude. Next.

FWIW, I wouldn't date a guy who goes to Hooters regularly.

But at the same time, if someone I was dating told me they went to Hooters with coworkers, I wouldn't blow my stack about it either.

Going every week? Yeah, I might find a problem with that. But once? Maybe she's not right for you.

.

I thought exactly the same thing. Hahahha.

Seriously though, I would find her attitude questionable if she got pissy over you eating at hooters. I would make me wonder what other things she may have issues with.

Can you imagine taking her to a "game" (whatever sport you choose to be) and she says something like, "DON'T YOU DARE LOOK AT THOSE CHEERLEADERS!!!"

Not a family place. She is probably worried that you and the guys are creepy dudes who leer at the waitresses there. Just reassure her that it was a business lunch and that you think the place is so cheesy. Tell her that you wont go there for happy hour. That's a whole other vibe...

I go to Hooters for the chicken wings....hmmmm....sounds like I read Playboy for the articles. :) Both are true, but there's another very true and more likely reason for men to go to Hooters and read Playboy.

I'm not defending the over-reaction to the gf, but the OP needs to see where she's coming from and stew over that if he's going to continue dating this girl.

No need to apologize, and it's good you found out early that you and she obviously disagree on this.

I would be turned off by it, too, and don't see myself being compatible with a guy who goes to places like that. It's her call whether she can accept it or not.

I don't know that I'd date a guy that went to hooters cause i think it's a bit crude staring at boobs while you eat chicken.its kind of caveman.

But I don't mind women showing their boobs etc, strip clubs etc, women enjoy being titalating and pleasing men.

If you have never tasted their hot wings you won't believe that some people go for them but they really are that good. If you don't like going there just bring them home.

I get really insecure if I take a lady to a really nice restaurant with very attractive male waiters. I think she might want to go home with one of them.

Oh, wait... she did! :D

OP, do what you do. If you like the food and ambience at Hooters, go there. My exW and I did, mainly because she liked the food and atmosphere at our local franchise. Myself, I couldn't care less, though it was nice to see the young college coeds out working and earning money. I give kudos and tips for hard work and waiting tables is hard work. Did it in high school.

I think their wings are mediocre at best. And they always have those little hairs on them. Like they don't pluck the chicken good enough or something.

Whenever I went there it was for the "atmosphere".
