I've had a few friends and family members tell me I have a low or husky voice. I also speak quite slowly, although I have been told I'm quite articulate and won serveral oratorical prizes in high school.

Most women my age sound like little girls or cute woodland creatures and talk a mile a minute. Is my my low, slow speach unattractive? I swear I don't sound like I a man.

Unless you sound like a man, voice is a non-issue.

I had crush for two years on a girl whose voice was kind of husky. It didn't bug me at all, though her voice did bug her a bit.

Well, if you are extremely attractive, then most guys won't worry about your voice.

But I do think having a nice voice can make a girl or guy more attractive. Especially if you have vocal training or have done some sort of "voice acting" like for radio or commercials. George Clooney has a really good voice. Most radio people have good voices.

Take some vocal classes or just try to mimick people on the radio or news. Practice with public speaking. Sound more confident. Sound sexy and seductive.

Well I don't know about "extremely attractive" but I consider myself pretty confident and I can be seductive if the situation is right.

I wonder sometimes about why other women are so much more "cutesy" then me and if men like that. I'm not 100 percent mature and serious but I consider myself pretty grown up and not at all girlish. I do like to laugh but I'm not a giggler if you know what I mean.

There's a lot of attractive women that do not have the cutest low-pitched voices, in fact it tends to be the pattern from my experience...I've heard some pretty deep tones coming from women like that.

The "cutsey" voice is good if it's not too high-pitched and whiney because that can become quickly annoying, but often times that kind of voice doesn't always come from the desired woman...I've met women with very nice voices in general but otherwise I didn't find attractive.

Voice has always been an attraction factor for me that I noticed early on and I think it's something men find attractive in general, even as a teenager If I heard a nice voice over the phone I'd fantasize it was this really beautiful girl/woman on the other end...but as I grew up I realized quickly that voice didn't always match the face and body I wanted it connected to, in fact more often than not it didn't...so I stopped even making any judgments or hopes over it.

So as far as attractive qualities, yeah I'd say it's one...is it going to be a deal-breaker? not very likely but possible if you've got a really low deep voice and speak too slow and that guy doesn't find it appealing...but for guys in the majority of cases, if you look good, doesn't matter...I've never seen that become a problem for the attractive women I've met/seen who did not necessarily have a very nice soothing tone singing out of their mouths...most people have more or less voices within a similar spectrum, I'd say accent's is the one thing that stands out to people more often than tone of voice.

Also, a lot of women who speak English as a second/additional language after their mother tongue, can speak with a deeper tone in their voice...because some languages require you to speak in the back of your throat (like when you try to do your "deep voice") while English is more nasally and front of your mouth...so personally when I meet someone in that situation it doesn't bother me much about their voice if I find them sexy/attractive in other ways....but would a nice voice be a bonus? yep, for me it definitely would...but not a deal-breaker.

The fact that you articulate yourself well and have even been noticed for it (which makes me quite curious to hear it personally!) means to me you shouldn't worry about it...I know it might make you feel self-conscious some of the times but look, everybody feels that way about something, never met someone who couldn't point out a personal "flaw"...so just work what you got the best way you can and be confident in yourself and others will pay less attention to it in response.

I have a pretty low pitched voice although I don't speak slowly. I dunno, I prefer that to a high pitched one. Men seem to like it :)

i would rather prefer a persons 'real' voice rather a forced, put-on one anyways.

Me too, I have a husky girly voice, but I speak a bit fast.

I used to have a small late-night radio program. I didn't have too many people who were crazy or interested in my voice, but the few ones who did, were obssessed with it.

I have a low-ish voice and while it's not masculine, it's definitely not the high-pitched annoying kind. I'm very very glad about that. Men seem to like it.

I don't think my enunciation is slow, I'm just not one of those people who can rattle off a whole story a mile a minute with plenty of irrelevant details. I say things pointedly and with conviction, and I try to chose my words carefully for maximum impact. I like to sound like I am sure of myself and I know what I'm talking about.

I know I must sound super dry but I do manage to get laughs out of people more than you'd think

I hope you are all picturing me as Daria right now

I am a straight woman, but I think that a husky voice on a woman is sexy!!

Posted

There is a morning radio show I listen to where one of the producers of five years had a deeper, raspier, more deliberate voice.

She would get listeners calling a lot telling her how sexy her voice.

Now she has her own time slot on the city's flagship rock radio station

Its all because of that voice.

Bears are cute woodland creatures with husky voices :)

But I concur with Ninjainpajamas. An overly cutsey voice can get real annoying. I often equate a woman that uses such a voice, or possesses one, as manipulative, attempting to use her femininity for personal gain. A husky voice in a woman equates to strong, confident, and determined.

I actually like women who have raspier lower voices. I'm a woman though so maybe my opinion doesn't count.

It can actually be very sexy and different :)

I think also think a cutsey voice can be annoying, but maybe she is extremely confident, just ask her to tone it down, LOL

I'm tired of women my age sounding like six year old little girls, too!

Glad your voice is husky and confident. Should weed out the creepy guys who are into women who sound and act like little girls!

I've read that women who are confident have lower registers to their voices. My voice is kind of sultry and bedroom-like ,too. Men seem to really like it !

I was just watching an old Bette Davis

with Dick Cavett from 1971. Miss that voice, keen wit and politely direct personality a lot. A lot of women of her generation, like my mother, smoked and that affected their voices, making them what was called at the time as 'smokey'. Some women have that naturally. Nice :)

Of the recent generation, I've always found the tone of Lindsay Lohan's voice to be quite sexy. She has kind of a husky voice aswell.

Thanks for all the replies. I also think Scarlett johansson has a really great voice, I haven't seen "her" yet but she I being praised for her performance as a disembodied voice.
